That’s an exceptionally low reading for what is an essential immunoglobulin Jsk. Have you had a number of serious infections and/or hospitalisations? If you’re in the U.K., you may be offered IVIG (immunoglobulin infusions in the day unit usually monthly). The criteria is a IgG 4 or below and a history of infections but your level is very low and your specialist may wish to address it.

I'm fortunate not to have infections and have not ever had treatment(4 years since diagnosis). I'm on one shingles tablet per day to keep that "monster" down. Next appointment in 3 months. I'm getting better at keeping the "stress monster" down, too. Holiday seasons are, for me bad, because of my loved ones who have passed on. To me, that's a hard part of growing older(74 yrs.). Arthritis, I can take a pill for, but not for that. My mind, my thoughts, I bring the happy, fun thoughts to the forefront of the sadness and can smile and laugh through the tears. Then I become thankful I had those times. It can be a fight sometimes, but I still have loved ones with me and wish to give them happy, fun thoughts for their memories. I want that for them and it's good for me, too. 🙂 Sandra
Hi Jsk1950,
If you want to read past discussions on low IGG, see this list:

And BTW- the numbers are very different in other countries- here in the USA the normal range for Immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels in adults is 600–1600 mg/dL
vs. the UK Normal Ranges Adult: IgG 6.0 - 16.0g/L

I have it tested every 4 months but only because my levels are depleted and always have been. I was told that it’s normally an annual test otherwise but each specialist may have a different criteria.

Hi Newdawn,
I am sorry to read about the challenges and frustrations you’ve been having with the NHS. It must be a time consuming and worrying nightmare.
Quick question. Are all your immunoglobulins low? My IgG, IgA & IgM are low. I call them the Goblins! Is it expected that all 3 are low do you know.
Yes my immunoglobulins are low across the board which is characteristic of hypogammaglobulinaemia. If I remember correctly, it was the IgM that demonstrated the earliest drop which I understand isn’t unusual in CLL. My immunoglobulins started to deplete very early into my diagnosis but thankfully my IgG seems to have levelled out a bit since treatment to average about 4.6. My IgA is .51 and IgM .48
Best wishes,

Thanks for the information. Fortunately, I’ve had no major infections, so no IgG infusions needed yet. I had 2 serum tests in a month due to a mix up between my doctor’s requisition & the testing the lab did. The 2nd test came back that the immunoglobulins remained low but stable. The gamma globulins had dropped though & the lab recommended a 3rd testing done with urine 🤦🏻♀️ I assume to check for malabsorption. No answers yet, just more questions.
