Drive Through Blood Test

For those in the UK, is your hospital providing drive through blood tests? I have a consultants telephone appointment in the next 3 weeks, so a blood draw is going to be required. I don't want to have to go the pathology!!

Do you have your blood form? If so book a blood test the week before at your GP medical practice.

Yes, they are still there to do such and have the highest standards to help prevent COVID 19 transmission.

Yes, I do have a blood form. Didn't real want to go to the doctors surgery either! I appreciate that the risk COULD be lower, but IMHO it's still a risk!

Hi Robert,

Last week I got my bloods done in a carpark at the Sheffield Arena. They have set up a Drive-through blood testing lab

sth.nhs.uk/news/news?action...

We went early in case it got crowded, and at 9.30 am there were only a few other cars waiting there. It was very well organised. We stayed in the car, just wound window down and I stuck my arm out when asked to. All very easy. I had my blood request form with me, which I asked for at my previous clinic visit and usually get done at my GP surgery.

I don't know if it is only for Sheffield hospitals, but I'd definitely recommend it.

I have just corrected the link about the Sheffield Drive Through. Sorry I did it wrong the first time.

Thanks PaulaS

Good organization! Must check if they are doing it around my neck of the woods!

I have thought about asking my local surgery nurse to take my next bloods in the surgery carpark - stick my arm out of a partly open car window...

What could possibly go wrong?!

That's what I would be comfortable with.

Hi. Paul should have a blood test soon, ready for a phone consultation with his consultant...he’s not keen to go anywhere ( we’ve been completely shielding for a couple of months now)and neither of us drives, so these “drive throughs” might need to be a “cycle through”!☺️

Take care.

Masked. Gloved. Aseptic technique.

Outdoors even, in the sunshine.

Its doable.

Just the medical team may be stepping out if their comfort zones. Then, they've been doing that now for a while now anyway.
