I’ve seen folks asking about Evusheld and any reactions/etc. I’ve CLL and a history of lupus. Mine is not a good story. I had the first 150mg Evusheld shots the middle of January and then 5 days later had an ambulance run to the ER because I was extremely sick. Then the quick COVID test was positive. I just chalked it up to COVID.
Then, since they said we need 300mg of Evusheld as a first dose, I got the other 150mg on March 24th. Two days later I was back in ER and stayed in the hospital for 7 days. At first they said pneumonia, loaded me up on antibiotics and did about every blood test and culture they could. It wasn’t bacterial nor virus.
Both the internist in the hospital and my oncologist agreed that I had reactions to the shots. At least 90% sure; can’t say 100% because there’s just no data yet with the Evusheld being so new and experimental.
Some percentage of bad reactions do happen with any drug. I’m one of the unlucky outliers as far as response to this drug goes. So for you, it’s a small risk for most I’m guessing. My doctors and I agree I’m not taking it again.

I am glad to hear you are a tough Hoosier! (I am a Hoosier by birth!)
Your experience is an example that makes the point. We can't know some reactions until we have them and some ones will have a reaction to most treatments we need as a species.
Thank you for that report and for your good outlook on life.
Sorry to read about your problems! I had Evusheld shots of 300 mg a little over a week ago and had no reactions whatsoever. These things are not 100% safe, There is always a risk. It looks like you got the wrong lottery ticket. I hope you get better.
I am wondering if you are reacting to the Polysorbate 80 in the injection, as opposed to the antibodies themselves. I mention this because if it IS the Polysorbate 80, you will need to check for that in any other injection or IV medication you get, moving forward. Reactions have occurred with other drugs containing Polysorbate 80 in other oncolology patients, and with lupus on top of CLL your immune system is possibly more unpredictable/reactive:
"Safety of Polysorbate 80 in the Oncology Setting"
The US EAU wasn't capturable in a single pic like the attached Australian drug fact sheet. The US EAU stated there was 0.6mg in each of the vials. I highly doubt any reaction would be caused by the water, histidine, or sucrose also in the vials. So if you get other injections of any sort and continue to have issues, maybe it could be the excipient.
Thank you. The hospital Dr said it had to be one of the two (carrier fluid or the antibodies). With the lupus and all, my body could’ve been over-reacting to the antibodies. But yes, he more suspected the carrier but couldn’t find documentation of it while in was in the hospital. This is great info. I’m going to forward it to my PCP and onco.
You say that you tested positive for Covid. Evusheld clearly states that it is NOT for folks who have been exposed to Covid. This may explain why you had a severe reaction. Your docs should have treated you with Plaxlovid, if you are positive for Covid. I recently had my Evusheld shots....... zero problems.
Glad you are doing better. My oncologist does not suggest I get Evusheld .
I ended up with post Covid bi lateral bacterial pneumonia 3 weeks after testing positive for Covid . I did not receive any antibodies from the two doses of the vaccine . After 21 days in the hospital and 8 months on oxygen my oncologist feels that since one of the side effects can be heart problems it is not a good idea for me . I also have a history of anemia .
Thank you for sharing your story . It has made me even more aware of possible side effects .
