Hello, my fellow CLL (Chronic Lymphocyte Leukaemia) patients. For those who have followed my previous posts you will know that this time last year began the first of 5 rapid admissions to hospital with 2 confirmed Pneumonia’s and a further 3 admissions with pneumonia like symptoms having temperatures in excess of 39 degrees. The reason for this post is hopefully to empower my fellow suffers who have gone through similar situations. After these hospital admissions I kept bugging my consultant and nurse specialist regarding what the current advice was for pneumonia vaccinations. As most of you will be aware, for healthy people, you have one vaccination in a lifetime. For CLL patients every 5 years. However, my specialist nurse said, its again change and the need for vaccination is via blood test. She gave me a lengthy explanation why. But now, the need is checked via blood tests to see if you have resistance to pneumonia. Just before Christmas I saw my consultant at hospital and stating I did want the same experience as last year my blood tests were checked for resistance to pneumonia. On 4th January I got the results and not only was my resistance to pneumonia low, but so was my resistance to Tetanus. On Monday, my GP is giving me a pneumonia vaccination and a tetanus booster. So, if any of you have had similar experiences ask for the antibody tests and get a further vaccination. Hopefully, this year I will be free of pneumonia. Stay safe everyone.

I am very not sure, what I shall do with all the vaccinations: First of all, I have allergies to vaccinations, so I loose conciousness almost all the time from up to 3 hours as a small child of 3 years, up to 6-7 hours as an adult. If this is not happening then I get all the time the illnesses I was vaccinated for. So e.g. December 2013, first part of pneumonia vaccination, 2 days after I got pneumonia, then one year later at the beginning of January 2015 I got a more severe pneumonia. So what shall i do with the vaccine for Covid 19, I am rea;;u not so sure......???????
People like you are the reason everyone else who CAN take vaccines without major side effects should! Since the Covid vaccines are the new mRNA technology, hopefully any issues you have with previous vaccine types will not happen. Do you know if you are allergic to the PEG (polyethylene glycol) in the vaccines? I have never heard of anyone that loses consciousness taking a vaccine.... does your blood pressure bottom out? Is that causing the loss of consciousness?
I think you definitely need to discuss these things with your doctor. You probably should NOT try the vaccine that is the "live-type" ones. And if you decide to take one, if it were me, I would do it in a clinic setting associated with a hospital, not a pharmacy or remote/standalone Dr office. If your blood pressure is bottoming out when your immune system kicks in responding to a vaccine, you need to be in a place where IV & other support medications and procedures are available.
My PCP used to give tetanus shots every 10 years. Few years ago I was due for my second one. He said he no longer believes it's necessary. If I step on a rusty nail he said then he would give it to me. I was happy not to have to get another shot. I see him again next week. I will ask him again to see if he still feels the same way. But honestly I feel it's not important compared to other shots.
Definitely important to get pn shots. I just had my first in August. Second one will be next August.

Thanks Mick! Maybe I can get them to test the pneumonia antibodies when they test for Covid antibodies. My blood test is in April for that stuff. Jeff
The only thing I’d add would be to possibly stagger each vaccination. I did a flu & pneumonia together, 3yrs ago, my poor lymph system went into meltdown, tennis ball size nodes in armpit adjacent to injection site
Dog experts don't recommend small dogs be given all their vaccines at the same time; the doses are generally standardized for up to 22 lbs and small dogs often suffer when their immune systems are exposed to too much. I can see where those of us with stressed immune systems are the same. So sorry whoever decided that giving 2 vaccines to an immune dysfunctional patient was a good idea happened to you!
