Good end to a bad year... My MRD Results are in!

As many of you know, I enrolled in a clinical trial for experimental treatment with the goal to reduce MRD to zero.

(Minimal (or Measurable) residual disease

Description:Minimal residual disease is the name given to small numbers of leukaemic cells that remain in the person during treatment, or after treatment when the patient is in remission. It is the major cause of relapse in cancer and leukemia.)

I began the trial last July. After three months, my MRD had reduced by 75%, a result which was described by my care team as exceptional. This morning, I received the results of my six month labs and my MRD are down 99% and it looks like I am heading towards MRD Negative (in lay language remission.)

MRD:

Pre trial – July 2020 16.80%

At cycle 3 – October 2020 4.26% 75% DECREASE

At cycle 6 – December 2020 0.13% 99% DECREASE

I anticipate that my next result at month nine will be MRD Negative

Happy new year!

For those who asked in case you missed it...

I am on Phase 2 Trial...

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04016805

I believe they are still recruiting . Go to clinicaltrials.gov and search the above identifier.

I was diagnosed ten years ago. Six years W&W. One unsuccessful treatment of Bendamustine and rituxine. The Ibrutinib for four years.

Wow! Excellent results. Really happy for you and the potential future for all of us. Thanks for participating in the trial.

Well done!! I'm on ibrutinib and will follow your progress with interest - a definite Happy New Year. For those who asked why my doctor recommended I stop flu shots early last year, it was because they felt my low immune level could cause the jab to give me the flu it was supposed to protect me from. It is why I'm following the results of those taking the virus shots.

Went for a covid test yesterday - good news. So far so good.

Happy New Year!!
