Flu jab which one?

Hi all just a quick question, Any body have any ideas which will be the best flu vaccine to take this year in the UK, the 2 on offer is the new quadrivalent vaccine or the new booster vaccine for over 65s to improve the immune response, not sure which one is best for us with our immune responses usually limited... I am in my forties but was going to see if its in my interest to ask for the over 65s booster, I've read the literature etc but it don't address cll specifically.

You want the vaccine that's adjuvant ... trivalent...

Tell them you are immunocompromised.

Do we need to go somewhere special here in Ontario to get the adjuvant trivalent flu shot?

No..it should be available in about 2 weeks at your local drugstore or GPs office... ask at the pharmacy...

Which type is used depends on age... you might have better success with your doctor if under 65 yo.

I would have preferred the trivalent as it makes more sense with the adjuvant to assist the immune system but I'm afraid my experience in the UK is you won't be given a choice in the matter. The NHSE say that the under 65s get the quadrivalent vaccine and the over 65s get the adjuvant trivalent vaccine.

Hi, I read and re read the explanations and thought maybe the adjuvant would be best but doc seemed sure the under 65 one the best. Im having ivig treatment and hope that will help. It definately needs looking into. Why is over 65 jab only covering 3 strains and the under 65 4 strains? Anne

Had my flu jab on Saturday. Im 60. My doctor said I should still have the under 65 vaccine. I was concerned as well. But it treats an extra virus. Feel ok but my arm is bruised and slightly inflamed.
