Hi All CLL'ers! Hope all is well for everyone. Just putting this out there. Thinking of retiring to the Colorado someday. I was wondering if anyone knows of cancer hospitals or medical in the Colorado area good for CLL?

Not a hot bed of CLL research... St. Luke's in Denver has a couple of CLL specialists, I think there is one in Boulder ....
Certainly you want a hemaetologist rather than a generalist oncologist.

The University of Colorado Anschutz (Denver) has a strong CLL doctor. I've been seeing Dr. Kamdar (CU's Clinical Director of Lymphoma Services) since retiring here in 2016. Kamdar is currently seeing approximately 100 CLL patients and running trials as well. I was being treated by Dr. Brander at Duke and was planning to fly back to Duke as needed. Fortunately I found Kamdar to be just as knowledgeable and approachable as Brander. I just started treatment after 4.5 years of W&W. She was able to get my insurance company to approve Acalabrutinib for my first treatment. What a blessing. Minimal side affects (a few headaches early on). We also have a CLL support group in Denver which provides great support. The group leader can also provide a perspective as she knows where most members are being treated. She is being treated by Dr. Kamdar locally and also sees Dr. Weirda at MD Anderson. If I can provide any additional information or if you want to know more about our support group please let me know.
I forgot mention. We LOVE Colorado. What a great place to retire to.
Good to know. Was in a dreamy mood a few months back & made a list of my most desirable retirement destinations and Boulder happened to be in my top 5. If I recall its biggest negative was cost of living. Maybe that's offset a bit by CLL Experts. But the beauty of the place... special!
We had our top 5 list as well and Colorado won out. We live staight east of Boulder (about 10 mile drive to downtown Boulder) in Broomfield. The cost of living (housing) is certainly less than Boulder. We can look at the mountains from our deck (when they aren't obscured by smoke from the wildfires). We're in a 55+ Active Living community (Anthem Ranch) and couldn't be happier. We moved here because we "wanted to" not because we had kids here. Been a great move for us.
