As promised we have a further update. Hubby has finally got a date for his stoma reversal op which is the 16th October. Between Dr Schuh and Oliver Jones they have discussed the concerns of operation vs steroids and as hubby finishes steroids in 2 weeks time they think this should give enough time for things to settle down.
Although Dr Schuh did point out that no-one knew what if anything would happen in those two weeks, i.e. Bloods etc. So to keep an eye on things he will have 2 blood tests week before op and a transfusion top up if required. They have stated that they will be keeping a very close eye on him so that what he went through in August will not happen again.
Phone call yesterday from his Clnical Nurse who gave us his results. HB 101, Platelets 271 and WBC just out of the normal range, but of no concern. Once op is done and dusted (will be great to say goodbye to the Alien) Dr Schuh will see him on the 26th October to discuss further treatment.
Dermatology appt went well yesterday with the 'all clear' from the skin cancer but due to the 'melanoma in situ' he had on the back of his thigh which has also been given the 'all clear' they will see him again in January 2018...... so yesterday was a pretty good day all around really.......
Take care everyone and have a great weekend. I'll keep you informed as and when we have updates ....

He’s sounds to be in brilliant hands Susie and things are improving. You’ve both been through the wringer though so let’s hope there’s some much needed calmer times to come!
Hurray! I want to cheer out loud. You've both had such a stormy journey so far but it looks like calmer waters ahead. Fingers (and toes) all crossed for you!
Good to meet you at the Oxford event and this all sounds v positive
Re Steroids - I was told I had to be at v low levels of steroids before I could have my spleen out (as would interfere with anaesthetics)...caused me a lot of worry, as I was trying to time reducing without causing the AIHA to come back (which would have stopped the op) and timing of the op (I was told I had to be down at 5mg/day...and I was worried the AIHA would be back at that level - I was at 80 to stop it)). Much stress.....I then met a good anaesthetist (via friend) and she told me I was aiming at way too low a level (ie what I had been told was told wrong) and that you can have fairly high levels - I can't totally remember, but I eventually had the op whilst on something like 15 or 20mg/day.
Hi Quarry, sorry I think you have me mixed up with someone else as I did not go to the Oxford CLL meeting. The steroids are the problems with my hubby, his colon/stoma surgeon will not even think of operating whilst on them. They are going to keep a very close eye on him.
On another note he will be having his flu and Prevaner 13 vaccine on Monday so gradually ticking boxes .....
