Help with Ultrasound - Chronic Pancreatitis

2 years ago I was admitted with a stuck gallstone in the bile duct and awful mid centre burning pain that went round into my back. I had been having stomach issues for the past 4 years. They did an ultrasound and diagnosed cholecystitis, wall thickening and a 10mm stretch in my bile duct. No stone in duct, 3 gallstones in gallbladder, a big one at the back, a medium one in the middle and a tiny one near the neck of my gallbladder. They were concerned about my pancreas.

I then had to have a MRCH magnetic scan and it said my pancreas was ok.

I had another bad pain episode, hospitalised and they diagnosed pancreatitis. It was the same pain as my gallstones which I was hospitalised before. Spent 7 days in hospital.

I was in awful pain for 18 months, could hardly eat, I think my microbiome was messed up after 3 lots of strong antibiotics for reactivated Epstein Barr and strep B. I was hospitalised and had to be put on IV's and pain meds. I went down with this 3 months after my gallstone episode.

I also have low B12, enlarged red blood cells and hypothyroid. I was put on T3 and my tummy pains started to go and I got some appetite back. I self inject b12.

Fast forward another 2 years, my tummy is getting better, I make sure I take digestive enzymes, bile salts, probiotics, mineral drops and amino acids and another whole host of vitamins. I lost 33 lbs with the gallstones and Epstein Barr and Strep B, I could not eat, had no appetite and when I ate awful pain. Just had an ultrasound 3 days ago and they have diagnosed chronic pancreatitis!!! Gallbladder normal now, no cholecystitis, no wall thickening, still same 3 gallstones. How could this have happened? Anyone can throw some light on it for me? Could an ultrasound be wrong about chronic pancreatitis? I am now waiting for another MRCH and they took loads of blood tests, not had results of blood tests yet.

Thank you so much for your help Xx

Get referred to an expert haematologist, expert in blood disorders. My loved one was (mis)diagnosed with acute pancreatitis for a year (and hospitalised multiple times) before being correctly diagnosed with Polycythaemia Rubra Vera, which is very rare. It’s unlikely you will have this but there are over 100 blood disorders. Many doctors missed this in our case, literally a dozen doctors. Good luck.
