I had a transplant 18 months ago and 6 days ago the hospital reduced my Tacrolimus and increased my Prednisolone to improve my kidney function (although it was no worse than it has been since the transplant). I’m gradually increasing the Tac and decreasing the Prednisolone but today lve started itching. I’ve got an appointment at the QEHB on Friday, will it wait till then or is it more urgent.
Thanks

Hi Pieeater - I’m not a clinician, have cirrhosis and not had a transplant. At one stage I had tremendously unbearable itching all over my body which was pruritis … maybe something to look into?? Best wishes, C
Yeah, I had unbearable itching pre transplant but this is the first time since then. I wondered if it was because my local hospital messed around with the Tac dose but apparently it could be due to poor kidney function as well. I’m having blood tests later so might have a better idea then.
Hi, I never itched pre transplant but about 5 months post I started itching, still itch all the time 7 years post. I've just been told it's probably due to the drugs, no problems with my liver. Transplant consultant prescribed citirizine, an antihistamine, which helps a bit but I'm covered in scars where I've scratched until I bleed. I've tried every anti itch cream there is.Hope your consultant can help, good luck on Friday.
