Under the scoring rate for ascites..Absent

Slight

Moderate

Basically I was extremely bad when diagnosed but now absent but only via sodium and fluid restrictions and diuretics. Which would you count as your score?

Child Pugh isn't just measured on ascites alone. I'd suggest speaking with your consultant about how yours has calculated and what they have worked it out as.Hope this helps.

You record where you are at any given time, so if you are absent now, you are absent.

Thank you 😊

You're welcome. I just want to get across that Child Pugh changes. If you get healthier it can go from C to A. Spend an hour on this board, there are a lot of success stories here about long term life after a cirrhosis diagnosis. I have to go now, have a terrific weekend!

This is great to hear Kensimmons thank you my husband is CP C and was convinced that was stuck like that until his consultant told him about a month ago each band is broken down further and his is middle to high C and it can improve so to stop being so negative. It was a massive boost for him as will your comment be when I show him thank you 😊

yes there seems to be a lot of misinformation on this disease. I recently revisited some medical hospital systems’ websites … and either they updated their information to not as gloom and doomish, the prognosis has improved via prescriptions and treatment, or I have gotten used to all of this ,? I’m not sure.

They did update their websites recently. Maybe a combination.

It's all relatively new to us tbh and with added TIPPS procedure due to portal vein blood clot It's chaotic I don't google anything anymore as yes the literature is depressing but my husbands consultant seems to have a more optimistic view he's also impressed that my husband hasn't drank since his albeit horrendous initial diagnosis he was admitted to critical care and tbh It's overwhelming confusing but I think with medicine advancements ongoing what was initially thought impossible becomes a little more possible each time with new procedures medication etc 🤞

Thanks for your reply. I hope you are doing ok 👍

Many people have moved from B to A. Then the life expectancy increases dramatically. Please dont lose hope!

Just a quick update. I am now meds free, without ascites and all bloods within normal range. I haven't had another fibroscan yet, but my clinic want to do it soon. I feel better than I've felt in over a year. Given I was in resus with liver failure in march and had a fibroscan score kpa 75, things feel alot better 3 months later. I'm not clutching at straws, but anyone at rock bottom, please remember life can go on and get better. This is a wake up call not a death sentence
