A consultant gastroenterologist I saw has written to my GP with a copy of the letter sent to me.
There's a lot in it, which I've been able to decipher myself except for this line:
"A liver database screen was performed showing a Child Pugh B score of 17."
I've read what I can about Child Pugh scores and 17 seems impossible. Could this be a typo? If not then I understand the 'B' but what does the 17 mean?

Hi Dave, This looks like a case of "Fat Finger Syndrome". Very serious. Your consultant's typist needs to get a new type writer and i'm not sure the NHS budget has accounted for that. Seriously though, I think you are right in your assessment. You can't score a 17. I think there is a 1 where there shouldn't be and your score is probably 7 which puts you in the B category. That would seem to tie in with the context of your letter too. Something to ask your consultant next time you go.
