Anyone's iron level low?

ElviralovesFashion profile image

I had a blood test last week and apparently my iron is low. I have a doctors appointment next week .

I'm currently on Urso twice a day for PBC

Hello!

I just went through a period of low iron and I found it very challenging. My oxygen levels were low which limited physical movement, I was fatigued and sleeping a lot, and generally experienced brain fog. My iron Saturation was a 5. The hematologist put me on high dosage Integra (brand) Iron pills which were slow but helpful. After 6 weeks, I begged to try infusions and received two Injectifer infusions 8 days apart.

I didn't feel too much of a difference physically after the first, but finally felt validated that he listened to me about severe fatigue which helped me mentally and emotionally. It took some days after the 2nd infusion, but my energy has returned. His nurse practitioner will now examine bloods every 6 weeks and we'll go the infusion route when iron levels drop again.

Hope your iron levels bounce back soon!

I get full blood test done every 3 months with my liver test and I go through bouts of low iron, GP just prescribes iron tablets for a month and its fine. GP thinks the low iron is to do with the approach of menopause.

Do you take iron tabs all the time?

I've been on Urso a good 5 years but have not had problems with low iron.
