Question about tac level

Hi all does anybody know what the ideal level is for tacrolimus I'm asking because mine is 8.7 I've let qe know but cant get through to anyone I know the level because I phoned my locall hospital and where I had a blood test over a week ago theye. Dont sound to sure thanks

It’s 5-15, so 8.7 does not sound like a problem to me, I am not medically qualified.

Thanks for replying the problem is i heard nothing from the local hospital until I phoned them to make sure bloods were OK after test so I generated the call now I'm thinking do they know what they are doing

Hi, I just checked on my last letter from specialist to my GP. Tac level was 6.1 and he has stated "obviously exactly where we want it". It goes on to say "He still has a bit of a tremor due to the Tacrolimus but not anything that causes major upset. This was at an interim clinic with my original liver specialist in march I am due at my liver transplant clinic again on Tuesday. Best wishes. Alf

When I have my bloods done at local hospital, my transplant hospital intercept the results and let me know very quickly whether my Tac dosage is to be altered. A few months back I got a phone call from them telling me to reduce my Tac. They asked if my hands had been shaking far more than usual (and they had) so that must be a sign of too high a level. Your 8.7 sounds more towards lower levels than high levels. So now you can chill out and enjoy your bank holiday

Thanks mate I had blood test at local hospital just over a week ago I phoned them to get results they then told me a little bit high 8.7 and to drop dosage but the point being what would have happend if I didnt phone them also previously they havent sent results to the qe which is a bit worrying I will contact the qe myself on Tuesday I'm sure I will be fine atb.from north wales

What I do, and it's also what the transplant hospital request when they send me the blood forms, is that when I've had my bloods taken that I then ring my transplant hospital liver nurse and tell her when and where I've had the bloods taken, then they chase up the results. In your case I would have thought that the results should be on record on the computer system for QE to access?

No records of them at the qe I phoned on Thursday this is not the first time my local hospital has done this I'm not impressed I think I might miss them out in future and go straight to the qe it just means more travelling

It's really is a long way to travel for bloods. Do the QE send you the blood test forms? If so you could tell QE of your concerns that the blood results are not being forwarded to them from your local hospital? Then I'm sure that the QE would come up with a solution because they need those results. Maybe they could put in a plan of action like the one used for me. It's basically to save me having to travel umpteen miles just to have a blood test just as it is in your case.

Sounds like a good idea at the moment the qe just expect my local hospital to forward the results so lack of communication seems to be a problem hopefully I can remedy this have a great weekend and thanks for taking the trouble

It all depends on you and your liver. It might change as time goes on, reduce or increase according to your blood results and so your prescribed dose might change at specialist appointments. I’m having a blood test on Monday but mine was just shy of 8 and Dr happy last time.

It's different for different patients, but you don't need to be worrying about yours, if you're transplant hospital think it's not right they will contact you ASAP

My tax level is normally around 7.5. That is a trough level. It is normally on a blood draw 18 hours after my previous dose of slow release Advagraf.

They have told me they are happy with this.

That’s a good point Paul. At QEHB you have to tell them if you have mistakenly had your Prograf on the morning of the clinic blood tests so they can interpret the results correctly...
