Calcified blood vessels and main arteries. But still taking Adcal and Alendronic Acid Tablets because of Osteoporosis.

I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. In hospital 2 years old they attempted to do as Angiogram in my groin ( The 4th one )but they couldn't do it and tore my main blood vessel and I had a major Bleed. They also attempted to do it on the inside of my wrist 3 times, but they couldn't do that either. When I asked why they couldn't do it, i was told that my Blood vessels were Calcified.

Now yesterday I was reading my BHF brochure that I have delivered every month. I have Valvular Heart Disease and have Angina, have had several mini strokes. In the brochure it said that people that had Calcified blood vessels should question whether or not they should be taking Calcium Tablets such as Adcal or Alendronic Acid. To which I am taking both..I take the Calcium tablets because I have Osteoporosis.

But in this brochure it said that if you have calcified blood vessels and you take this type of medication it can affect your arms and Legs, making them feel very heavy and painful because of the calcification. I can't remember the last time I had a review on my medication.

I very often tell the Doctors more than they know. I know none of us on this Forum are medically minded. But if anyone can help me out i would be very grateful. I'm due to be going in hospital within the next few weeks for major Abdominal Surgery to do with my Liver, Blocked Bile Ducts ,Sludgy Gallbladder etc. So I'd really appreciate any help and advice from any of you lovely People on here. Before I go to see my G.P. When I have had my operation and i feel a little stronger, im gonna have to change my G.P. I need one that is gonna help me out when I need it. Not someone that says "Oh well I'm not sure ".

As you know, no-one here is medically qualified to comment on another individuals medication.

It can be a very tricky balancing act to manage the medication for multiple conditions.

It is always good to be your own advocate and to have a questioning approach.

I do hope you GP and your medical teams can help.

I asked my question on the wrong Forum didn't i. I put a small Post on the British Heart foundation and have got a reply back. Im a dope, i should have thought 1st. But I like it on here and I tend to ask everything on this Forum.

When really speaking I should be using 4 as i have multiple health issues going on..
