Went to my gp today to be told she doesn't think she can help me further. Still getting slight pain under rib and right of navel, past few months my legs have been very fatigued. Been booked in for blood check on vit D and calcium and these were low in june, she suspects it's my bones that are the problem. With 2 lots of normal bloods and clear ultrasound they wont check my liver anymore 😞. My bones do hurt, but surely it wouldn't affect my abdomen? Not sure where to go from here.

Hello Yooks82,
Clearly you remain concerned despite reassurances that your liver is functioning normally.
Maybe it would be useful for you to have a conversation with one of our registered nurses who are very experienced in caring for people with liver problems.
The help line is open Monday to Friday from 10am - 2.45pm (except bank holidays) the number is 0800 652 7330.

Thank you. I think I'm going to have to as I've reached a dead end.
Hi
Is there another GP who you could see at your surgery? Please take care of yourself Lynne xxxx
This is the 7th Lynne. I really am starting to think I'm just a hypochondriac. If money wasnt an issue I'd just get an mri and take whatever they said as gospel.
You are not a hypochondriac. Your Drs seem to think they are better than you, well they're not!! Love and hugs Lynne
Hello Yooks
I’ve no idea what I can say that might help you in any way, but you tried to help me when I posted the other day, and I just wanted to say ‘hello’ again and say I hope you feel much better very soon.
I read your post and felt for you, and just want you to know I’m thinking of you at this time.
One thing that might help is to consider that your current position is a world away from a far worse and very serious diagnosis, though I understand your mood because we’ve already established that we think alike in a few ways.
Get your head up and we’ll both come through this, and we’ll both be here to encourage any others who come here in the future in need of help and a bit of concern...
Regards as ever
Graham
That was lovely Graham. Thank you
Hi Yooks, You mentioned that you have shortage of vitamin D and this can cause a person to have chronic fatigue and weakness, depression and anxiety. Were you given any vitamin D supplement after your blood tests? Regards. Alf.
Hi Alf. Yes I was given 25 000iu weekly for 3 months and 1000 daily there after.
Has it made any difference to any of your symptoms?
Yes my anxiety has pretty much gone, and lower back pain, but the pain under my rib remains and a new pain right of my navel has appeared.
Hi there, I read through this post with your symptoms and low vitamin D calcium and thought maybe you could look into magnesium. Magnesium goes hand in hand with Calcium and Vit D as each one helps each other absorb. Magnesium is known as the anti stress mineral and it helps with an array of different issues a lot of the ones you mentioned as well! In the US we have a magnesium drink called “Calm” it’s kind of like alka-seltzer but it really works well and so do epsom salt baths.
Hi. I take magnesium, vit D and k2 daily.
I just read that chronic bone pain can be a symptom of low vitamin D, but I don't know about the area that you are mentioning unless it could be a rib issue. I now take calcium and vitamin D meds because my bones have suffered over several years of illness and chemotherapy, but I have suffered problems from the weakened bones rather than from pain in the bones (other than pain from bone injury and that's a different matter). I hope that your pain eases or that you manage to find out what the problem is. Best wishes. Alf
Hi yooks has your GP ever mentioned costochondritis it's a condition that causes inflammation in the ribcage..symptoms can be ribcage pain and abdominal pain ..sometimes pain when you breathe!
The reason I mentioned this is my daughter suffers from this condition..not saying that this is the cause as only a doctor can diagnose it..but it might be worth asking your GP if this might be a possible cause.
While no one here can diagnosis you, I can say that being over weight ( not assuming you are) can contribute to all sorts of pain and other issues from fatty liver to joint pain and foot and leg fatigue. If weight is an issue, it’s worth consulting both a doctor and nutritionist. Losing weight reversed many of my issues. It is not, however, a cure for liver disease, especially there are other factors contributing to liver problems...drinking too much. Fatty liver, hepatitis, etc.
No I'm a very petite 5ft 1 and 7st. Never been overweight
Have you had your Ferritin checked, could you have iron overload?
Ferritin is fine
I did get my own MRI this year of ankle. Cost £200 if you go at weekend early at Vista Health Waterloo/London. Was rushed and freezing cold, but did the job. I think they want a referral letter, but not sure, some places don't. Hope this helps.
I was told 2 months ago to drink mint tea by GP when I said I still had liver and abdomen pain, from May and churning stomach, which she could hear. Now know I probably have cirrhosis. so is obvs bacteria related overgrowth. GP also said liver can't hurt. Have they tested pancro/bilary /autoantibodies/viral etc.
Hi snow
It so annoys me when anyone says liver can’t hurt. Everyone knows knows that the liver itself can’t hurt per se but everything around the liver can when it gets affected by the liver (stretched, whatever). Guess that pain doesn’t affect everyone but it blurry did for me!
Sorry that’s my very laymansy terms - but I can only speak from my own experience as I have no real medical expertise at all!
Mikes
I was just going to post the same as billyandbenny. It's worth getting your ferritin and transferrin saturation checked. Iron Overload or Haemochromatosis can cause joint pain and abdominal pain. Long shot, but the tests are very cheap to do.
