Hi all I’m secretly getting worried but not telling anyone so I knew could talk to you all on here for advice , I have started to get slight pain under my right side ribs again , which is where I first had pain before got diagnosed with pbc .. I am also getting very pale solid stools now and for the first time today there was some blood in it ,but I don’t know if that was because it was a hard stool and just tore me slightly . I’ve recently started taking new medication colestid for itching so not sure if due to that . I was due to see consultant in April but they have cancelled my appointment to June but I can’t make that date so gonna be even longer . Shall I wait for consultant appointment or make appointment with my doctor .. thanks in advance for listening love sherrie

Hi Shezza123,

If you havent had bloods tested recently then i would be going to gp to have them done. Dont wait for the consultant appointment, gp can check and if there is issue they will contact consultant for advice.

in reply toShezza123

Think if the blood was not due to it being hard and difficult to pass then you cant put off speaking to doctor. Xx

Hi Shezza123

If you have passed any blood, then it is very important that you are medically assessed as soon as possible. If you cannot get to see your liver consultant then we would suggest getting an emergency appointment at your GP's.

Keep us posted,

Best wishes

It can be very hard to see where the blood has come from if it is passed per rectum, which is why a GP/ specialist will be able to safely assess that for you.

Best wishes.

Hi Shezza,

whilst you wait for your appointment to have the bleeding checked out it would be a good idea to drink plenty of fluid and eat plenty of things that will help keep your motions soft.

If as you say your motions are solid it could well be that you may have caused a small tear and this could result in some fresh red blood.

Hope all goes well for you at the appointment.

All the best to you.

Alf

With pale stools I think you should ask to see someone asap.

The blood may well be because of the hard stool, but the two things together need to be checked out.

I would ask for an emergency appt. just on the basis of the pale stools, especially if this has been a sudden development that you have not had or reported before. Also, you should not have to wait nearly a month for blood test, when something like this has happened.

I agree. Many people’s healthcare problems are made worse by waiting. You do not want to end up in a crisis situation.

I’m not really in pain any more and no more blood just pale stools .

With pale stools, I would see my GP as soon as possible: this is a recognised sign that the liver is a bit unhappy. As Osidge has said, above, things can get worse if you wait.

Hi Sherrie, it's good news that your liver is no worse.

The powerful heartbeat that you mention could be stress related with the worry that you are going through but get it checked out if you feel that it's not normal.

Best wishes

Alf.
