After a long night, husband is now in ICU. All went well and now hopefully in the next few days I can maybe talk to him and hear his voice again. I know it’s still a long road to recovery but I am so ecstatic it has now been done after a very hard year of watching him deteriorate in front of me. Thank you all for your kind words of support xx Elaine

It will change your lives. From being ill and getting worse he will find new energy. It took about 8 weeks for me to really feel better.
Delighted for you both Dusty. All the very best going through recovery and thankyou so much for keeping us updated.
Get some much needed R &R now .

That’s such great news.
Fantastic news. Now please look after yourself x
Great news. I had my first liverversary on 28th and it gave us time to sit down and chat about what hubby had been through whilst I was on the operating table and immediately afterwards. I made him go to work while I was in hospital so that he would be surrounded by friends. He said that was the best thing as it took his mind off everything and then he came to visit me in the evenings. He then took time off when I got home. Talk to friends and as others have said have some time for yourself. Remember that you've been through a tough time too and sometimes I think it's harder for the partner having to helplessly watch their loved one get ill.
Best wishes to you both.
Hope all goes well for him. xx
.....and breathe!!! Pleased for you both. Now do make sure YOU get some rest. He is well looked after. But you do need to look after yourself. The next few months get easier day by day. A slow journey but a return to normality is just round the corner.
Good luck. Andy.
So pleased to hear that your husband is doing well! My transplant was 10th December last year so I am fairly new to this too! It must be so very difficult for you not to be there, but to be honest with you the first few days for me post transplant are a bit of a blur, with drugs and amazing almost 1:1 care 24/7 from the ITU team and letting them get in with their job! Back then I could have visitors but I live in Devon and my transplant was at King’s so it was not really possible! Facebook and email were great and the team were happy for me to have calls and update my family and friends!
He is in the best hands and you are now well on the way to a new, better life👍
