He’s doing well. Still in Critical care but kidneys now responding. Physio’s has him in a chair yesterday (they don’t hang around do they!) they think he’ll go onto the ward today at some point. I have to say Birmingham staff are amazing. They are all so friendly and helpful as well as being amazing at their jobs. Samantha

Transplant update.
That's great news again Samantha. I'm glad his kidneys are on the mend and it never ceases to amaze me how quickly they get you up and about. I'm not speaking from personal experience. I pray his recovery continues apace, and you are able to take him home, when he is stable enough.
Best wishes to you both, David
Hi Samantha, Glad that he's doing well. Physio in a chair one day, then a few steps round the ward the next. they don't let you hang about! LOL. A week makes a tremendous difference at this point. Best wishes for his continued recovery. Alf
Great news had me out of bed and in a chair in icu, the more he can walk quicker recovery will be xx
Great to hear they're on top of things with him. I was never seen by a physiotherapist after transplant. Instead I got a rude nurse questioning why I was still in bed on the 3rd or 4th day 😒
That’s really poor KLDN! I didn’t get out of bed until at least day 4 from what i can vaguely remember but then a physio saw me probably daily and had me walking to the end of the corridor by about day 7 - fuzzy estimate! No rude nurses at all! Kicked me out of the hospital by day 12 still in a lot of pain but they kew what they were doing! Home sweet home 😁 good old (!) QEHB 👍.

Fantastic news hope his recovery continues so well,no they don’t muck about but it will speed up his recovery
Huw x
Great news, you don’t exactly feel like getting out of bed but it’s a good idea. Helps with the recovery.
Best wishes for the days ahead,
Mark.
Hi there,no your certainly right the physio’s don’t hang about but the mad thing about having a TP he’ll be home in a week.also once on the ward I was relieved every time the physio’s walked past me .lol
Hi
Hope he carries on doing so well. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Yes with most ops these days they get you up and moving before youve barely come round from the anesthetic ! It is vitally important in order to keep the heart pumping, blood circulating and prevent joints and muscles seizing up. All the best for a good recovery and happy future
Xx
Great news. Best wishes for you two❤️❤️
Sounds like he is doing great! I couldn’t believe it when my son had his last year, transplant on Wednesday and in a chair on Thursday and getting himself to the toilet by the weekend! I was so shocked after seeing him in ICU that he was up and about so fast!
Fantastic, the new journey begins and the old is history.
I got out of the bed as soon as I could but stalled them, because of that effort before I began the walking as I said I would let then know as soon as I was ready that was about day 4, but at least they let me off our a bit phew. They told me that every day it gets a little better and that is very true, the getting to the toilet is a great point welcome home self respect!
He’s struggling with the fact people have to help with things. I think I would too, but the staff are so respectful
So so true about toilet david - if only you didn’t have to drag that darned drip machine with you - got in the way of everything 😁😁

Great news the staff at the qe are fantastic I was out Back home at day 5 get moving as soon as you can
Day 5!, what are you? Superhuman being or something? 😁👍. Kudos me ol’ fruit!
No mate just very lucky they wanted me out at day 4 but one of the doctors she was from Brazil thought it was to soon which I was glad about the thing is I didn'the appear to be ill before the tx
No they don't hang around. I was having physio the day after only just getting me 2 stand up out of bed. X
Well done. Nobody seems to give you a chance to wallow in good old self pity when you're feeling rubbish. I'm convinced there should be a wallow period. However, the more you do, the more quickly you recover. I was hampered by kidney and fluid retention problems and couldn't mobilised quickly and then it took a frustratingly long time! Next step - HOME 🤗
I love it - wallow wallow wallow!! I’m all for it!
Fab to hear. The quicker they are up and about the quicker they recover if there are no complications, it also helps with moving the fluid on that collects in other parts of the body that you would never dream off. Let's put it this way hubby had an issue walking properly the week after transplant and it had nothing to do with his legs
Hi Samantha,
What good news! Wishing an uncomplicated recovery for him.
Yes, how medicine can change their opinion on what is good for the patient LOL.
Best wishes to you both,
Mary
Great news my husband had a transplant almost 14 months ago. He is doing great! Slow and steady wins the race ! Best of luck
