CT liver

Hey everyone id just like to clear my head. I got numerous lfts and blood work and a cat scan on my abdomen in er. i went there cause i was panicking about a little cramp in my abdomen which isnt painful. the physician told me liver was enlarged but normal. Normal ultrasound and perfect lfts. Went to get final report and it changed, saying everything was unremarkable no inflammatory processes in my abdomen. Went to gastro showed him my cd and said my liver is perfectly fine. I still stupidly worry till this day as i have gotten cleared by so many docs. Why would she tell me something like that. And then the attending radiologist change it?

Maybe it's just a play on words? blah blah.

wow so helpful..are u serious?

Supposition or else I'm reading into it incorrectly. Just a suggestion. Not joking. 🤓

what do you mean play on words? by the way i feel fine. im just extremely depressed. only 28 but told by many doctors im absolutely fine.

in reply toblahblahsw

Called away there. Sorry I've confused the both of us. I can't find the paragraph I was looking at before I posted.

I should have said the way the medical fraternity use words.

As you may well know,

"Unremarkable" is what you want to hear if you are a patient. It means nothing unusual was found in the medical imaging or testing process. "Remarkable" means something stands out as not normal.

Whereas the standard definition -

Unremarkable definition, notably or conspicuously unusual; extraordinary: a remarkable change.

Is that not playing with words?

My scan was described - No abnormal lumps or bumps.

Either way one should be happy with those results & lift your mood. Don't think it condiscending. Lost in translation. 🤓🤔

Thanks! its ok im just in distress and the last thing i need is this..i have to come to grips that my liver is normal..but bigger? Very weird.. but im not a professional have gotten numerous follow ups for liver function and clotting factor. Everything is very much healthy. I have some sort of PTSD from this lady telling me this news to have it reviewed and "corrected" it has taken a big toll on my mental health. i feel great physically besides what the stress does to my body (IBS symptoms minor aches intense panic attacks)..its a constant battle in my own mind.

Hi Blah

It seems to me that the first thing you need to do is CALM DOWN.

You are worrying about stuff which you know little about and imagining a whole disaster movie,

Your results sound fine so you don’t need to worry unless you are drinking excessively or feel your ill then please don’t worry.

You seem to be someone who is very worried in general. I don’t know what your Dr thinks but perhaps being able to talk to someone might help you. It helped me a great deal

Thanks for your reply.. and yes im fine but i have OCD, depression anxiety and panic disorder. So a physician telling me this is like telling someone they have cancer when they dont. I finally sought out help through a pyschologist and taking it from there. The devil is always working but jesus is working harder. i really appreciate your response. I dont feel ill. and i only drink on the weekends if that. It just haunts me as i have created this conspiracy in my own head despite multiple doctors telling me my liver is fine. Sooner or later i will get past this dark time and my future will be stress free. My gastro said my liver was perfectly normal and "homogeneous"

My love you just need to relax and believe in your drs not in what your mind is saying. If you can just relax into that then everything will fall into place,

By the way children, I thought this is a safe forum - no nasty comments

in reply toIsabelle2

Hi,

I'm not sure what you took as a nasty comment, as I did not see any.

You gave blahblah some excellent advice and one hopes it eases her mind.

Best wishes,

Mary

Have you tried CBT for your anxiety, ocd and panic attacks it don't work much for depression but if you can at least overcome one aspect that is affecting your mental wellbeing then maybe its possible that it will help the others.......worth a try.

Good afternoon blahblahsw,

Sorry to hear this is causing you concern. It can be difficult when different doctors are reporting using different terminology.

It may be worth chatting again with a doctor you trust?

It may also be helpful to seek help and support if you are struggling with your mental health?

Best wishes,

Trust9

I have been going thru elevated liver enzymes for 3 months and blood work after blood work I had a complete abdominal Ultrasound that said everything was unremarkable and great. I have an appt with a GI/Hepatologist next week. My doctor has taken me off celebrex 1 month ago and my Effexor 3 weeks ago completely and I have experienced horrible side effects and withdrawals. I am in very good shape and I exercise, run and am very active daily. Since he took me off my meds I have been aching all over, especially at night. I had a complete panel of Blood work today Nash FibroSure panel, Mitochondril, Antibody, CK,

Hepatitis A&B, Kiver & kidney Antibodies. I have been worried sick and have went from perfect health to a worrier and aching person. My face has broke out and other things like intense itching at night . My levels were ALT: 181, 185, 185 .. AST 146, 143. 141. I know something is wrong, if my levels are elevated. Can someone please tell me what it sounds like or if you have been thru this. I don't understand why all this if my ultrasound was perfect. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Thank you...Praying it is an autoimmune something and not chirosis... I am 55 years old. I have also lost 10 pounds in the last 6 months but I think that is due to exercise. I run 3 miles at least 4X a week and do Bodypump, kickbox, and P 90X 4 nights a week. I would love any information-good or bad..I am tired off worrying myself sick and being in this pain. I think the pain is from coming off arthritis meds Celebrex. I have been making it thru exercise with a struggle but the pain gets so much worse at night Any advice Thanks so much!!!

You know this is my post right? you could of made your own.. but i assume we can put that aside and i can assist you. From someone who is still worrying about nothing to you..what other symptoms are you having? Do you drink alot? A lot meaning every day at least 3-4 drinks? bingeing on the weekends? All your enzymes are elevated which points to your liver being stressed. You need to be as thorough as you can with your gi next week and he will determine what steps are next. Trust your doctor. Unlike me..

Thank you. Before all this I would have up to 3 glasses of wine at night. I have cut down tremendously and when I want a glass I mix half wine with 1/2 Pelligrino water. i have went from drinking nightly to maybe 3 nights a week total 1/2 glass of wine those 3 nights.. I was in perfect health before all this and looked and felt better than I ever have. with a perfect ultrasound could something else still be wrong. Do you think my liver enzyme levels are mildly elevated or is that a lot to you.

blahblahsw in reply togracieb03

Im no doctor.. but if you read my post above you would see how much mental pain iam in. LFTs when elevated are indicative of liver injury..your numbers while elevated dont suggest terrible damage. I have heard of patients being in the thousands or 500-600 range. I suggest you abstain from alcohol indefinitley as it will only make things worse. See what your doctor says but definitley cut out the alcohol! And may god be with you. Ultrasound was good thats a good sign. You said you workout 6 days a week. Just keep doing what you are doing. Try not to worry so much. But ditch the alcohol for now.

I can’t say much except that from my experience only ( nothing scientific to back it up) that when I had cirrhosis walking alone was difficult- never mind the exercise you do!

On the other hand I have little faith in Ultasounds - just my experience I hasten to add!! I had about 7 or so all mediumly OK but nothing to say what my problem - -cause/ bad effects of cirrhosis- really was. The last time I was hospitalised I had yet another US scan and they said they couldn’t see anything as it was difficult to see very well. Luckily I had read my Hospital notes and my brilliant Consultant had written - look for a Portal Vein thrombosis. So when the ward doctor came round and said you can go home very unlike me I said it wasn’t that they didn’t find anything it was that that they couldn’t see properly! Well he was not a happy doctor. Anyway not sent home and 3 days later got a CT scan. Eureka found a thrombosis straight away. Transplant was hurried up then 👍.

Then following the TP after about 6 months I got terrible stomach and back pains. Over the next 7 months I had 3 US scans. It’s OK it’s just the nerves healing I was told. Fed up I did say eventually that you said they should be healed by now. So thank goodness after 8 months of pain had a CT scan. Guess what - a massive incisional hernia seen. Strange but true.

Ah well. Hope though that that’s just me and you are indeed all OK - well OK apart from pains, bloods? 🤞🤞anyway for you Grace.

Good luck

Please keep us informed.

Suitably told off - sorry. However, I could correlate Gracies comments with my issues but I did not have fluctuating blood results like yours. Mine were constantly bad - so I didn’t feel I could comment sensibly to you....

blahblahsw profile image
blahblahsw in reply toThreeSmiles

Wait what? I never had fluctuating blood levels. They have been normal every time.. I guess you are confused.. See the original post at top.

OK - still my comment applies - no correlation.
