A hell of a lot of positives there - liver normal shape and outline, spleen normal, gall bladder normal, correct portal veinous flow - important words "early cirrhotic change". Hopefully you've now ceased all alcohol intake seeing as they are saying this was the cause. Positive lifestyle changes and living healthy should hopefully prevent the situation worsening and could even hopefully reverse the damage already done - since early cirrhosis is now deemed reversible. So, look after your liver and it should look after you for many years yet.

As there is some suggestion of early cirrhosis you should now go onto a 6 monthly cycle of scans and bloods to monitor for deterioration or any other lumps, bumps or issues.

Thanks for that

I've never seen an ultrasound report as detailed as yours. The level of detail is more like you see in an MRI scan. If you stop drinking & live a healthy lifestyle for a couple of years you may find that your liver repairs the damage. A FibroScan to measure the amount of fibrosis would complement the ultrasound & give an idea of the extent of the 'cirrhotic' changes or whether in fact your liver was only fibrotic.

When I had an abdominal ultrasound doing a FibroScan as well involved changing the probe & flipping a switch on the machine. Before getting a FibroScan get a blood test and make sure that it is normal so the FibroScan result isn't inflated by inflammation of the liver.

Either get a FibroScan now or adopt a healthy lifestyle for a year or two & then request one. You might be pleasantly surprised to find that your liver has healed to the point of no longer showing early cirrhotic changes. If the damage was caused mainly by alcohol the chances of fixing it are good. If it was caused by other things like NASH accompanying fatty liver then not as good.

Thanks. yeah i think a rescan maybe in a year with a FibroScan will help

Good morning jimbo1234,

Welcome to this friendly supportive forum. May I firstly ask you to read over our community guidelines in the pinned posts.

We request that you do not post scans or blood test reults as no-one here is medically qualified to interpret them for you.

May I suggest you discuss the results with the doctor who requested the scan? They are best placed to advise you as they will have access to your full medical history and records.

As our forum members have suggested - positive lifestyle changes- minimal alcohol or abstinence, healthy diet and exercise are the best plan for long term liver health.

You can also call our nurse led helpline on 0800 652 7330 Mon-Fri 10am-3pm should you wish to discuss anything further.

Best wishes,

Trust9
