Small Update about Blood Tests

Hello,

We had my father's blood and liver tests done recently (Diagnosed in February with Cirrhosis - Ascites Drained Once 2.5ltr / EVL Banding done 3 Times in February - Nothing afterwards). Last one was done in May and they were fairly improved that time in comparion to his February Reports.

Hematology

Present HB is 11.5gm - previoulsy 9.4gm

Present Platelets 124000 - Previously 122000

Everything else is in normal range.

Peripheral Smear - Anisocytosis, Mild Thrombocytopenia

Creatinine is 1.73 - previously 2.15

Now, comes to LFT

Bilirubin Direct 0.3mg/dL - Previously 0.5mg/dL

Bilirubin Indirect 1.6mg/dL - Previously 0.4mg/dL

Bilirubin Total 1.9mg/dL - Previously 0.9mg/dL

ALT 26 IU/L - Previously Same

AST 46 IU/L - Previously 44 IU/L

Albumin 3.0 g/dL - Previoulsy 3.2 g/dL

Globulin 4.9 g/dL - Previously 4.0 g/dL

Rest in normal range.

His Bilrubin indirect has gone up four times and his Globulin has also gone up. He was down with viral fever/infection last month and did not follow his usual medicine routine which I feel has changed Albumin Level slightly lower side.

Overall, I can say, he could have improved his results further if he had not slaked on his diet. He had somewhat oily and normal salty food due to attending family functions have having dinner / lunch there in last 2 months too often.

He presently has ascites around 500cc but not to the level where he feels uncomfortable. Mild edema. He has lost body muscles since being diagnosed in last 8 months. Otherwise, he is feeling normal, eats well, sleeps well, does his daily work well.

Medicines presently taking - Metoprolol 50Mg for Blood Pressure, Propranolol 10MG, Vitamin E, Vitamin B12, Repaglinide 0.5 with Insulin for Diabetice. (He is diabetice and has hypertesion from last 18 years). For liver we are only giving him natural supplements.

I am planning to get his USG and Fibroscan. But can someone tell me if there is any other way of detecting varices instead endoscopy? He just doesn't want to go through that! And CT Scan, they inject dye which is not good for his already weak kidney.
