Esophagus pain!

Hi All

Well my inflammed esophagus has had another wobble late last night causing horrid pains radiating across/below my ribs and through to my back! The pain was still there this morning when I woke up and I must say it wasnt nice, so I've decided to increas my medication of Omeprazole to twice daily until I speak with my consultant or GP .

I'd like to hear from anyone else who's suffering with there Esophagus! I do wonder if this is has anything to do with my last three LFT blood tests being so high causing a further CT of my lungs to be carried out plus a biopsy of my liver to check for Sarcoid or PBC ???

Sorry Trish, I get pain in most places, but not the esophagus, even with varices.

Keep taking the Omeprazol, until your Doc gets to the bottom of it.

Hi Trish,

I have issues and take lanzoprazol daily. I know when i first got prescribed the doctor was going to give me omeprazol but it is less affective with one of my other prescriptions im on for pbc/aih. Not sure of your meds but may be possible.

Take care

Hi Angel

Many thanks for reply and note on your meds.

I used to be on daily Lanzoprazol for years, but my consultant changed my meds after a recent investigation highlighted I have an inflammed Esophagus , which I now believe is getting worse and more painful.

I would call my GP tomorrow but I'm attending an induction course at our local hospital for a volunteers position, so will call my GP Wednesday unless it gets more painful tonight!

Nighty nite and thanks again for advice!

PS I do hope your coping ok in the meantime ?

Hi

I'm so sorry you are still struggling. After we spoke this morning, I've been trying to think of something I've taken but it was quite a long time ago, it was called algecon, I do hope it's still on the market but it's worth asking your Dr, it could have changed names I suppose. Hope you feel better soon. Good luck tomorrow. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Thank you again for concerning note.

I did manage to sleep after eating some cold rice pudding which I thought might help ease the pain and its helped so its cold rice pudding for breakfast 👍

The Shropshire Star has just sent out another small appeal and a sweet elderly Welshman saw the appeal who's now sending me a donation because his son is waiting a Liver Transplant at the QE ! His sons name is Steve and is possibly on our forum ! Ah......

The news paper may be sending a guy to take photo's if time slot allows....

Thanks again for advice! Will keep u all updated

Oh yes Trish - as you know I also have reflux and HH - when I saw your photo of your Sunday lunch the first thing that came into my mind was - ooh I wonder if that will hurt next day!!!!! For me it would as I also have probs with inflamed esophagus. Pubs/Restaurants very often use cracked black pepper which is a killer for us. I know exactly the pain you are experiencing - under ribs, up esophagus, into throat and referred pain in the back. I rarely eat out now due to this. I have been on the med you are on - have you tried Silicol Gell which I use in a flare ? Feeling this for you xxxxxxx

Your right about the Sunday lunch because that's when it flared up afterwards ! We don't normally eat Sunday lunch out to often but that was a first in a very long time, I think I've learnt my lesson!' However I definately can recommend the Swan in Ironbridge, especially as cooking is a hobbie and the flavour's were mouth watering yummy ....

One for you Richard64 to visit !

Well, maybe no more rich Sunday lunches out for me until the docs can sort me out!'

Bye for now xxxxx

PS My lunch was full of veg and Turkey! The gravy may have caused the flare up

When I have this same pain up under my ribs, in my esophagus, throat and back, I have found several ways to lessen the pain. 1) Get a family member to start at the neck and slowly go down to the waist using one hand at a time back and forth on either side of your spine for several rotations. Press firmly but be careful not too push hard. For me, it feels like it relieves what I would call as a 'gas pain' in the upper abdomen and back. 2) sometimes light stretching (arms upward then toward the floor) also helps relieve the pressure. 3) My kids and husband know not to force conversation with me in this mode, because it causes shortness of breath and way too much pain. If I remain still for 30 minutes or so, this helps. I too take Omeprazole daily, have a hiatal hernia and PBC

Hi Jenner

Saw GP this morning and explained the Esophagus flare up! Meds doubled to 2 a day! However after yesterday's out of the blue tummy upset due to the meds I'd rather keep to one tablet if I can! As the dives still 10 days away all should be ok for dive.

Love Trish x

Hi Jenner

Firstly thank you for your message which I do appreciate.

I'm sorry to read your suffering with Esophagus, PBC plus hiatal hernia which is must be tough to cope with.

I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia together with IBS in 2005 and now Esophagus issues following gallbladder removal late 2016!

I'm going to try your suggestion when my Esophagus flares up again as the pain has now eased off.

I've managed to calmed down the flare up by eating a small bowl of chilled rice pudding before going to bed to see if it would ease the pain and it immediately helped with the pain. I then eat another bowl for breakfast and so far I've the discomfort has been so bad!

Tomorrow all being well I may get to see my GP or another for advice on my Omeprazole dosage.

Again thank you for your concern and will be in touch !

Love Trish xxx
