Esophagus Flare Up caused by Hummus !

โ€ข90 Replies

Dear All,

I've now found the caused of my recent Esophagus flare up's! Last week I brought from Morrisons some ready made hummus as a dip to have with some sliced cucumber or salads. Well after a few days of horrid pain which I managed to get under control flared up again after having a small amount of hummus wrapped in some very lean ham for lunch yesterday! The combination mixture of the oil, chickpeas, garlic and Thani paste are now band from my fridge๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

My fingers are now crossed my Esophagus is now on the mend! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Thatโ€™s great!

Is there anyone else in the band? Maybe you could invite Brian May?

Milo

in reply to ThreeSmiles

If I only, maybe Donavan or Ray Davis from the Kinks could join me?

Teach praised me last night in front of the class! He said I'd improved and listened to what he said from my private one to one lesson the day before ! How cool was that! Practice! Practice ! Rock Chick will get there ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽผ..... slowly does it!

Hi Trish, well done for the detective work. I'm glad your esophagus on the mend.

Ah, so your teachers pet now๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. I'll have a word with Ray, and see if he'll pop over......... sorry, only joking ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š.

in reply to davianne

Blummin heck David! I know you've socialised with the best but you had me going then! I loved Ray Davis back in the 60's and 70's ,Amazing voice !

Not sure about teacher's pet but he did make me feel on a slight high !๐Ÿ˜Š

He's 31 with really long dark hair, funny as hell and a real dare devil! Rock climbs every week, plays in a band , teaches at another school and burns the candles at both ends by teaching others in his spare time.... lol

Hi Trish,

That gives you a new song to learn ......Days...... easy peasy ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ. I loved the cover by Kirsty McColl.

Davis

in reply to davianne

Wow! Ray Davis singing Days at Glastonbury in 2010 ! Just watched his performance on YouTube! I just adore this guy music and voice !

Wonder if he does any private gigs still around the UK !

Will definately give it ago ! Waterloo Sunset's another good one!

in reply to davianne

Bummer, Ray has cancelled all UK tours for this year and the few he booked for 2020! He's touring the US instead ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Since early 70โ€™s heโ€™s been going to see them in Chicago. Then saw Ray solo and Dave solo before and after stroke. Has all their albums, 45โ€™s etc. and t shirts. Lol Iโ€™ve gone with him over the decades but not every time.

Windex should keep me on track .... get it....????lol

You've all just made me chuckle.

Going back to hummus our son Mike is really bad if he has it, bad stomach ache and terrible IBS amongst his other problems. He can't have garlic, onion or chick pea, plus many other things too. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

in reply to

Hopefully Mike's no longer eating any of the above now ?

Its definately a No! No for me for sure on the hummus front!

Love Trish x

Read this Trishi - hot off the press, Iโ€™m being serious this time, honest!

in reply to ThreeSmiles

Hummus is not the same?

Semolina didn't we get that at school dinners.

+Tapioca. ๐Ÿคซ

ThreeSmiles profile image
ThreeSmiles in reply to

Ive no idea at all. They both begin with H.

Semolina - yuk. I didnโ€™t read the article at all - just the headline. Reading would be a bit much for me ๐Ÿ˜especially at this time of night ๐Ÿ˜. Actually I am just reading about septicaemia - is that the same as semolina?

in reply to ThreeSmiles

Houmous it is by Zorba Delicacies Ltd.

Only effects children & elderly.?

So Don't ab-zorba the Greek.

Semolina poisoning I'd say.

ThreeSmiles profile image
ThreeSmiles in reply to

There you go then!! The latter may apply? What do I know... ahh yes letโ€™s blame the semolina - Iโ€™m all for that ๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™m now getting into Staphylococcus aureus - exciting midnight reading indeed it is......๐Ÿ˜

in reply to ThreeSmiles

Semolina and Tapioca silly ๐Ÿ‘Ž

At primary school we called Tapioca frogs sporn ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘Ž

ThreeSmiles profile image
ThreeSmiles in reply to

Whatโ€™s frog sporn when itโ€™s at home? ๐Ÿ˜

in reply to ThreeSmiles

Are you kidding me ! Have you ever looked at frogs eggs? It looks like Tapioca...๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

Maybe I spelt it incorrectly...will check as it's not my best subject .....

in reply to ThreeSmiles

Ha! ha! Frogs spawn ! I'm so crap at spelling ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Žbut I do believe there's a similarity don't you think ????

in reply to ThreeSmiles

Wow! I do wonder now whether there was a connection. Well at least my symptoms have now stopped and the left over went in the bin for collection yesterday.

Thank you for sharing this news Miles !,

Hi Trish I am glad you've found out. You can make your own hummus using just chick peas and leave all other ingredients out especially raw garlic. Find the best recipe for this on the daily mail website. If you use tinned chickpeas make sure you wash them thoroughly. Otherwise make your own from scratch. However chickpeas itself could be the main culprit for your misery. All the best.

in reply to Megbird

Cheers Megbird for your lovely message! I may have a go at making my own as I have noticed numerous recipe's,, however, I'm weighing up the discomfort against a low fat yoghurt dip and I think my dips may win this one hands down!

I'm going to miss the taste of the hummus but hey ho .... no pain wins !

How's you in the meantime ?

Love Trish

Thanks for your reply. I am doing ok just about. I have few things nagging me at the moment. I hope that i will be fine soon. I am trying my best watching what i eat. Going for an hour walk right now. I have a painful/discomfort toe over the past 3years and it is getting worse every winter. Been to my GP for it. Nothing they can do about it. Apart from being adviced to buy toe support/separator. Nightmares. Have a nice day

in reply to Megbird

Oh blummin heck, painful ! Do you suffer with gout as that's very painful and normally affects the feet!

I have heard that eating lots of celery helps the circulation in your toes and taking daily turmeric is also brilliant for the joints! I'm about to start taking turmeric daily to see if it relieves the inflammation in my knee's!

Enjoy your walk !

Love Trish x

in reply to

You can't miss gout just a tad more than a little pain / discomfort. You can't even allow the bed sheet to touch it. Acute attack usually overnight so as soon as you put your foot to the floor its like being hit with 40,000 volts.

No walkies, can't drive.

For info. My son thought he had it GP says flat feet. Going for full assessment on Fri @ Foot clinic.

New one on me. Wasn't born with it.

It is not gout. It is a second toe from left (from my small toe) on my left foot. All started by wearing these old white wedges 3years ago. I went to a Radio Music festival in London. Gosh the pain on both of my feet made me leave just after 2 hours. It was a sunday evening so all shoe shops were closed. I left the festival and went home. That it is how it started and that was the end of me and the old white wedges.x

in reply to Megbird

I think pride kicked in here ! Will we ever learn to listen to what our bodies are telling us!

Do hope there's some magical remedy to relieve your pain!

Take care and keep in touch x

Lot of salt in all that too, particularly the ham

in reply to C1JAM

Maybe, but it was very thin lean ham and I must eat! I do however dislike salt but do adore pepper on most things ! Minimal salt in cooking is used!
