Hi I was diagnosed 2017 with cirrhosis portal hypertension with a spontaneous splenorenal shunt large gastric varices and HE. I have never been hospitalized-during an endoscope looking for an ulcer (I believe) the varices were an incidental find and started the path to diagnosis. My labs revealed an ammonia level in the 300s and imaging/scans were ordered. My Fibroscan scan came back CAP 234 and Kpa was 75. Alcohol was determined the cause and was immediately removed-actually before the endoscopy was preformed as I felt pretty ill. My labs normalized within 4 months and I was put on Xifaxan and Nadalol. I have now been symptom free for almost 2 years and honestly feel great. I eat a clean diet fresh press juice daily am meat free and eat mostly a plant based diet-healthy My MRI at first didn’t show cirrhosis but the next was interpreted as having mild modularity. I finally got my re do on my Fibroscan with I felt was I inaccurate due to possible alcohol hepatitis-my GI had refused to do another. It came back with a 13 Kpa-this was a couple of weeks ago. I am hopeful I can reverse-is this in the realm of possibility to any ones knowledge? I have never had a bleed or been hospitalized. Thanks for any insight.

Question of possible reversal or continued healing
Hello there, I have just read " Reversal of liver cirrhosis : current evidence and expectations NCB. " by Y.K. Jung. 2017. I found it an enlightening read, just type the title into your search engine and it should pop up if you,re interested. The short answer is that despite cirrhosis having been thought to be irreversible in the past, new understanding and research, medications and clinical trial results may offer new hope.
Thank you so much! I will check it out! I was hopeful even for a misdiagnosis that perhaps I had not reached the point of no return-the ph and varices are unusual without cirrhosis and of course kpa13 is very close to f4 so considering these facts my diagnosis hasn’t changed. I hold out hope and am looking forward to delving into your recommended read-
