Uphill battle (literally)!

Having not run for a couple of weeks, as we’ve been away, I thought I’d better get out there as it is too easy to get out of the habit - unlike a lot of you, I’m not someone who enjoys the run itself so don’t yearn to get back into my running shoes! Decided to try a new route as I was not very excited at the thought of my usual ones.

Well, the first 1.6K were uphill - never mind the toxic tens, more like the fatal fifteen! I genuinely thought I may have to stop and go home! But I carried on and miraculously found some sort of rhythm once I got to the top of the hill, ended up doing 6K. And have found a new route, although I’ll have to work on my fitness to make that hill seem easier!

I had all you HU companions in my head as I went round so wanted to share my feeling of success! Thanks all who inspire me to keep doing this!

1.6km uphill???? Wow, that's a challenge and a half! Hope it was downhill all the way back :)

Yes, the downhill was gradual but lovely! The hill itself wouldn’t have been as difficult if it was ten minutes in, think it just seemed hard as it was right at the beginning. May do the route backwards next time, as the ascent comes later that way!

Very well done. Running is so hard, I often run and ask myself why I put myself through this. But I’m always happy when I get back in the door afterwards. The benefits to mind and body makes it worthwhile. Hills are character building moments. 😀
