Sunday sort of commute run πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Thought I'd leave my vehicle at the dairy farm when I finished calf feeding this morning and run home to ours. The only trouble with the route is that you have to go on a busy B road that has nasty bends that drivers tend to hug the edge to get round. So, instead I chose the scenic route, part way up a mountain (Welsh hill), then down a different path to a lane that comes right out opposite our lane, so missing main road except for crossing it. Of course this is much easier now it is dry and summer! I took it quite easy, as been a bit lax about running lately, but it was great just having a place to run to without having to double back! AND once I'm up that first hill....it's all downhill to home!! Collected vehicle at this evenings feed time ( had a lift up.)..not sure I have the time to do it any other day than Sunday!

7.5km and 49 mins. I did walk the steep bits and stop for photos and to note a beast who had lost his ear tag so I could order a new one....

Anyone else successful at running or biking a commute?

That sounds like a lovely run home, running mountain routes πŸ™‚! know what you mean about busy B roads. Its especially annoying when running them would make the perfect route. I tried running on one and it was scary and I wont do it again! Had to keep crossing the road at bends so I could see what was coming 🚘

Thank you it was lovely and I do the crossing sides thing on our side roads too for any bend I can't see round!

I love your commute Cowladyrunning !

As mine involves a minimum 90km round trip over a 1100m mountain pass - I live at 680m but the road drops to around 500m before it rises again - I doubt I'll be running it any time soon... 🀣🀣🀣

πŸ˜‚ I know! I often look at my hilly Wales runs then look at your elevation and wonder why I'm not whizzing up my little hills with ease!!!

That sounds wonderful Clr! What a view! My last commute consisted of a brisk walk to the station followed by a long train ride to London- definitely not the same thing at all! Thank goodness for retirement!

I certianly would not be running to work if I was still teaching!! Imagine a day all sweaty before you start and then there's the carrying of equipment! I think I'll only be doing this on the way home where there is no need to carry anything (hubby can take it) and I can shower on arriving home!

Oh what an idyllic commute CLR. πŸ₯° πŸ„ Maybe you’ll find yourself doing it more often? Maybe you could run there and back, although it does sound rather hilly! 😳

I think I'll be slower on the up route! And quite daunting to run uphill all the way there, do a physical job and run home again! But I would get very fit!!!

What a great idea, sounds like you’ve found a good alternative route to the main road too, brilliant. The cows in my village say hello. Happy running πŸ€—

What a beautiful place to run and such a good idea, I tried running home from work last year at the beginning of lock down but the bag full of files and laptop bumping on my back stopped that pretty quick

Thank you! Yes I think you could only do it really in a job you don't take home, or by riding a bike.... but I'd still worry about that B road on a bike!

Those B roads can be treacherous for runners, we take everything home in case we have to isolate, so far luckily haven’t needed to
