After a winter of discontent (largely down to bad weather events and even badder bugs) that has caused may people to fall behind where they planned to be, we have decided to add a 5K option to this February run - introducing HU10+5 !!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hey folks!!!

I have just popped over from one of our sister forums: Fun Beyond 10k and Race Support (I'm one of the admin team over there)🙋‍♀️

We wanted to let you know about our next fun HU10 virtual run on Sunday 23rd February, and to invite the lovely people here on Bridge to join us!

This 'virtual group' run will be held on Sunday 23rd February (but, to be flexible, runs at any time between Sunday 23rd February and Sunday 2nd Mar will count).

Although 10k is the most popular option, there are actually two distances to choose from - 10K or 10 miles. For me it will be a training run on the way to my half marathon goal, for others it will coincide with an actual event, for some it will be a goal or milestone run: HU10 - your run, your way!

Important note: EVERYONE is welcome. New to 10k, or not. Fast runner or slower. Whether you intend to run, run/walk or walk. This is an inclusive event, an opportunity get together and experience the full support and sense of community, fun and friendliness our fitness forums offer! 🥰

⭐ So, there are now just fourteen days between us and this, our first event of 2025. Then in eleven weeks, on Sunday 27th April, we will hold our main spring HU event, with a greater variety of distances available.

We would love you to join us for one or other, or both! So, can we tempt you? Are up for our HU10 in two weeks? We do hope so 🥰 Please let us know in the replies below if you want to join us, and I will add you to the start list which you can take a look at here: docs.google.com/spreadsheet... Remember to let us know whether you fancy the 10k or 10 miles option (no worries if you decide to change at the last minute).

⭐📢📢We are ready to host our next HU virtual event: HU spring 25 📢📢⭐

Main event: Sunday 27th April at 9:30am (as always, we realise the date/time might not work for everyone; so in order to give greater flexibility we will accept runs at any time on Sunday 27th April, or at any point during the following week of Monday 28th to Sunday 4th May). This time you will give the option of 10k, 10 miles, HM or Metric Marathon (26.2k). By my calculations, that gives us almost fourteen weeks to train for the main event!!!

This year we will also hold an interim event as you train for the main distance. This will be held on Sunday 23rd February (again, to be flexible, we will accept runs at any time on Sunday 23rd February, or at any point during the following week of Monday 24th to Sunday 2nd Mar). This event will give the option of running 10K or 10 miles. By my calculations, that gives us almost five weeks to prepare for the interim event!!!

This year we will also try to focus on strength training alongside your actual run training. There are of course lots of wonderful resources available on our sister Strength & Flex forum which you can find here healthunlocked.com/strength... , but we hope to provide some gentle nudges, encouragement and motivation (for those who think they could benefit from it) over the next few weeks.

For anyone who hasn't come across one of our events before:

In short we pick a date and invite our VRBs to cover a given distance, running or walking, wherever they choose! We nominate a date for the event, give you a selection of distances to choose from and look forward to reading your race reports. If you can set off at the nominated date and time, you have the added boost of knowing we are all on the virtual HU start line together - running on our own, but definitely not alone; if you can't make that specific date you will have another week in which to complete your distance.

How does it work?

★ If we receive enough suggestions, we will compile a main event playlist based on your submissions 🎶

★ If you choose to, you can use any of our existing ‘HU run experiences’ using RunGo (some people liked them, others were less keen! Think pantomime version of Nike guided runs!) 😊😊😊

★ We will even make race bibs available (so long as you have a printer at home!).

★ Finally, we will of course have a winner! In the past, the winner has been the person who completed their run in the time closest to our randomly generated time (after the event closes). Maybe you have a more creative suggestion, but however we choose, we will ensure there is absolutely no requirement to run fast to win this event! 🐌🏆Do let us know if you have a more creative suggestion!

As always, this event is of course entirely free to enter and yet again, there are no t-shirts, socks, aid stations or toilet queues! No training plans or routes will be supplied! Instead, a unique HU experience, run your way 😍

If you're currently running around 5k, this may encourage you to push to 10k. If you're running at 10k, perhaps it will give you the boost to get to the magic 10 miles. Maybe it will inspire you to push to Half Marathon or even to give the Metric marathon a go in a couple of months time. If you're running beyond, perhaps you can use it as one of your speed runs! If ... well, you can use your imagination 😍

Instructions for how to enter will follow soon, but feel free to start planning your training now! We hope you’ll be eager to join in (and help make this another fun event)

Hey linda9389 ! I am so excited about this!!! I’ll join in for the 10k…how much of it will be running I’m not sure yet but I’ll be on the start line and I’ll be celebrating across the finish line!

Thank you so much for setting up this event! I hope lots of Bridge buddies will be there too…5k, 10k or 10 miles let’s all have a super run!

Hello, I'd like to join you please. I'm doing the 10k Run through Gloucester at the end of March, and my training has been pathetic. This might be an incentive to try a bit harder!

Fantastic. You're right, it should help focus your efforts a little sooner 😍 I'll add you to the start list. We'll post updates here up until the day, or pop over to our Fun Beyond 10k & Race Support forum and take a look. Each week we give a shout out to any of our members who are racing that weekend. Our March events post should be up in a week or so, so let us know about your event there and you can feel the support of lots of HU members for the big day 😊

Wish I could...but unfortunately won't be in , this time around!

I love these events but due to Dr's orders...my running is going to be limited for at least seven weeks... and what I am allowed to do will be very short, and hopefully, sweet...

BUT... I shall be popping in and watching everyone who is going to take part... such fun ! Thanks for setting this up again! x

Hi linda9389 …I’d like to join in for the 10k…probs a run/walk but I am SURE it will spur me on to get some extra running done in the meantime…and who doesn’t love to be outside m, even if it’s skipping?! 🤣 xx
