I have no doubt you will get heartily sick of NF posts over the next day or 2 but what an amazing weekend. Mr S and I booked the 3 night camping package and took the motorhome down for the weekend. We set off in warm sunshine, but, passing Oxford, the skies darkened and by the time we arrived in Brockenhurst, it was decidedly inclement 😕 Nonetheless Shake-and-run and I and our hubbies decided to walk from the campsite cross country to the chippy on Friday evening. Got a taxi back because it was pitch black! Saturday dawned fair, so the 4 of us jumped on our bikes to cycle the 8k to Brockenhurst parkrun. What a stunning course - single lap on forest trails. Gorgeous! Then, after a lovely dinner at an Italian restaurant (spoilt somewhat by being on tables at opposite sides of the room) this morning was the New Forest 10k as part of the marathon weekend and a long awaited VRB meet up with Dexy5 UpTheStanley cheekychipmunks Mudita11 -David-G and aliboo70 Unfortunately we were also blessed with a biblical rain shower about an hour before we were due to start, leaving the course with loads of muddy puddles. The run itself was entirely on trails through the forest and absolutely beautiful. Slightly disappointed with my time of 1.17(although it recorded at 10.36k on Garmin with a 10k time of just under 1.15, which was my target). The event organisation was fantastic with live music, a bar and numerous food outlets. Roche Posay were one of the sponsors and, rather than handing out their sweat proof sun screen at the start, they waited until the end (to avoid rubbing in the rubbish weather 😂) Our son came across from London to join us and we had a lovely afternoon bbq in warm sunshine. Grrr 😡 Wonderful time though 😁
New Forest 10k: I have no doubt you will get... - Bridge to 10K
New Forest 10k
You packed an awful lot into your 3 days Sandie. The run was just an adjunct to the main event; fabulous meet ups were the main course. Running times were academic. Special times.🙂
I am sorry that the southern weather didn’t quite meet expectations Sandie1961 . But didn’t we make the most of it? You were also wearing the only waterproof jacket- I must volunteer at the London Marathon to get one of those!
Your time was excellent considering the conditions and you were 2nd HU lady in! 🥈
So lovely to see you and the family.
We can’t do anything about the weather can we and it seems to have been poor everywhere yesterday. Still, it added a certain something to the run jumping over puddles 😂😂 It was really lovely to see everyone and nice to come back to the NF, as it is so beautiful, so thank you for the recommendation xx
Never going to get bored reading these reports Sandie, apart from the rain before it sounds really great
NEVER! How can we tire of reading of great runs with super friends
You had a wonderful few days and full of excitement , laughter, and joy! Running with HU running buddies, for the first time and subsequent times is absolutely wonderful and you met up with so many old and new forum friends
The run was the icing on the cake, muddy puddles or not and that time... perfect!
Maybe not the one you wanted, but I know so, so many forum friends here, who had their first ever running time for 10K at 1hr 17, me included... it is a good , round time... ( I would be really pleased if I got that now )!
It looks and sounds to have been terrific, and well done to each and everyone of you! x
Sounds like a wonderful weekend!! What terrific runs...
But that important question, where's the bling?
LOL
So lovely to see you all Sandie1961 ! I apologise for my rain wish. Unfortunately it spoilt your plans on Saturday and didn’t benefit my running as it had stopped by then. Worst of all scenarios! I’m happy you got to have your BBQ yesterday though. ❤️
thanks for sharing this weekend with us. It was fun. (My report to follow)
I definitely never get fed up of run reports, Sandie. Well done all, especially for surviving the rain. A 10k is way beyond me these days but I remember the joy involved in achieving one. Hope to see several of you at the GSR where I will of course be spectating, not running.
Aw Sandie1961 I absolutely loved reading that. Felt like I was there with you this weekend. It sounded so special. Those puddles! Full on run but you did so well. Hopefully one to look back on and remember how much grit you had to get to the end. Amazing run. ❤️
Oh I adore the New Forest must look out for this challenge next year, think that’s a great time in the mud 🎖️🌳
what a great post Sandie61, never tire of reading the reports, and the camaraderie of you all is joyous 🤣, happy running! 😊
