I decided to do my long-distance run for the NRC 10K programme this week on Thursday. It was a 5K, so I was pretty comfortable that I'd be able to do it. I decided to run along the canal again and this time as I was running, I noticed there were some paths off into the forest at certain spots that I really hadn't noticed before.
My thought was to go a bit further than half-way out, turn around and then take one of the paths home for my cool down walk. I'd explored some of them in the past.
Well, this turned out not to be the experience I had thought. Many of the paths in the national park surrounding the canal were flooded, I got turned around and turned around and my cool down walk lasted close to an hour.
Fortunately, the weather, although threatening at times, held off!!
I'm hoping my madness at work ends on Monday and I can relax a bit!!

That makes sense! I should have guessed that was all it was. Forgot you’d mentioned you were doing NRC. How’s it been going? What are you thinking of the guided runs?
I like the guided runs for the most part. I enjoy the encouragement/distractions. Sometimes CB can be too talkative, but for the most part...it's good.
Sometimes he really won’t shut up! I’ve got to be in the mood for it, especially with the headstarts/finish line ones. The advice is really good though and he does make me laugh…sometimes out loud to the confusion of passers by!
