At last, I have been released into the outside world again...I have been looking forward to this day for over a week!
I decided that I would try for 2kms this morning & the flattest route is the canal towpath,, so I parked up, put my 40p in the machine & started my warm up walk, everything felt ok...after 5 mins I started gently kissing the ground & still, all felt good, runkeeper announced that I’d reached 1km, at this point I can’t say that my ankle was completely pain free, I could def feel it but it wasn’t screaming, just whispering, pulling just to remind me that this was the start of my recovery week...the whispering got louder, so I stopped & walked...admitted defeat...I turned around heading back to the car, I turned all my tech off, Strava hadn’t tecorded properly anyway so I deleted that activity....I found a wall & did some stretches, doesn’t feel too bad, I could’ve prob kept running but, still considering myself a relatively new runner, I didn’t...I carried on walking then thought I’d just give it another go...so set my tech off again & ran to the bridge nearest the car...yes it hurt, I could feel every step but it’s not going to go straight back to normal is it?? I’m sat in the car now having done a few minutes cool down walk. If it wasn’t for my ankle I feel I could’ve run forever!! I’ve no pain in it at the moment, let’s see what the rest of the day brings...a couple of days & I’ll try again...slowly & surely I will get there...
I’m not disappointed with my run, I don’t think it was a bad run, it was a test run, a recovery run...
Thankyou for all your support, encouragement & care you’ve sent me over the last week..
boy did it feel good to be back outside this morning!!
Happy running in this lovely sunshine everyone...there really is nothing like it xxx
