Mammogram run!!

It was my mammogram appointment this morning. I know I'll run there and back. 'What and arrive all sweaty' helpful hubby chips in. Ok, I'll get the bus there and then run back. This I duly did, arrived, in and out in 5 mins. OK, I need to warm up now. Picture the scene, I'm in a busy health centre car park, behind the mobile unit, feeling somewhat self conscious. Oh blow it, I am at a health centre, just get on with it. So there I am marching on the spot, swinging my legs etc etc, watching staff arrive and head off. It was a glorious run in gorgeous sunshine along, for the most part, unfamiliar lanes for running. Past a golf course, seeing happy golfers in the distance, a number of walkers and a horse rider before reaching my familiar running territory. 5.5k done in a respectable time for me. So any other strange starting points for a run out there?

That was a great way to take your mind off the mammogram, not the most pleasant experience there is but it's so important to take care of yourself. Sounds like a lovely run!

Love this! I’ve run from a local barbers recently. MrU was getting a hair cut so I ran and he met me for coffee later. I’ve run home from the airport to get the car and then driven back to get MrU and the suitcases avoid a ridiculously overpriced taxi!

Hope the mammogram comes back clear.

During lockdown I ran to and from my mammogram, I reckon these people are professionals and have seen worse than a bit of sweat. I often run to the shops if I'm not doing a big shop...I was recently looking after a herd of plaster giraffes for an art installation, and generally ran between them...did the same with a herd of cows a couple of years ago...

Running is a useful way of getting places, I use it a lot! But not today unfortunately - my mammogram was cancelled at the last minute.

Yes, they were all awesome, 31 big ones like these, they go to auction and raised nearly £300,000 last time - we had cows last time. There were also 62 mini giraffes, they were all made by school, and go back to the school now the installation is over.

This is brilliant. I love the idea of using running as "transport ". I've never really thought of it as a way of getting from A to B . Bizarre really as I frequently walk into town to do errands-it has never occurred to me to build it into my running plans !Happy running!

brilliant post Sax. Mammograms are another one of those uncomfortable things us older ladies have to submit to. Hope it comes back ok.

I did consider running over to my son’s house when I was feeding his cat last week but it never quite happened.

Lovely idea Sax. I often wish I could run whilst doing errands, but not where I live!
