W41R3 - slow "run" after a hard week :-)

I seriously considered just running the minimum distance due to fatigue from a hard week, but I regretted doing so. Also because the workload doesn't end and I don't know yet how I will manage three runs in the next week. So I didn't want to give up in advance :-)

Happy running!

I’m confused about “run” in inverted commas. Did you feel like this wasn’t a run? It looks like a good one to me!

I was dragging my feet and it was really hard.

The whole time I was waiting for it to end.

I felt like it was more of a walk than a run.

Have you thought about taking a drop down week next week? You just sound like you might benefit from a bit of recovery time?

But I have no idea what a dropdown list is.

But yes, I thought about many things :-)

But the biggest problem is the desperate lack of time, so I suppose it will work itself out somehow..

Sorry, I should have explained! A drop-down week is where you reduce your run mileage before either resuming or increasing again. Mentally, it’s really nice to think “I am taking a chilled week this week and that is good for me and my running” instead of “I am really tired and busy and I’m stressed about fitting everything in and I’ll feel bad if I can’t” which is what’s happened to me before. Practically, when I’ve done a drop down week, I’ve cut all my runs in half or I’ve cut the number of runs I’ve done. Picking up feeling fresh is a nice place to be. I guess it’s a bit like a taper before a race.

Routine can be helpful but it can become toxic and lead to injuries and burnout if you can’t flex it at all.

Have a good week, whether that’s running or recovering, or a mix of both.

Thank you so much for the great explanation!

Circumstances seem to have forced me to change.

However, I realize that there may be times when running just doesn't work. As long as that's not the case, I don't want to be "unnecessarily" lazy.

(I know myself, I tend to stay at home.. )

But I promise I'll think about it!

I've been feeling pretty tired for the past week.

I try not to prolong the run and only run along a known route.

But it's challenging because it's another routine, on top of a gray road :-)

However, routine is something I need to develop and regular running is a great opportunity to do so!

I'm not giving up just yet and I'm trying to keep going and not increase the distance and I'll be careful and have the freedom to decrease the distance if necessary or skip the run. :-)

Thank you very much again! 👍
