Don your running leggings and you go out for a run.So I ran yesterday, 3k, run 1 of the NRC 10k plan, run 2 (and I know I can mix them up) is 555 seconds, I didn't think that would satisfy me after a day's rest so I sent the times to my watch, 5 min zone 1, warm up, start coach B and 10 min zone 2, then coach B ended at 555 seconds, 5 min zone 1.

Such a change from yesterday, rain, grey skies, oh well. So I donned my running leggings, followed by the rest of my clothes including a sweatshirt because I didn't think I'd get warm enough in so short a run, paired my headphones.....jumped, said bl***y h**l and turned the sound down.....some of my hearing is back 😁! Or at least on its way back.

It's wet out but not too cold, I'd forgotten my hat so very soon my glasses were spattered so I tucked them into the waistband of my leggings and carried on.

Listen to your body is the mantra to remember. I've been running extra slow to keep my heartrate low, when I first started this a few weeks ago a few shuffling steps and it shot up, in fact I had to walk less than half pace to get it down again.

Enter a week long battle with doctors to get antibiotics and 6 days later I couldn't walk fast enough to get my heartrate to the top of zone 1, I ran at a gentle pace and watched hr steadily climb, everything feels great and I'm going faster than lately but not pushing it.

I didn't go far, the 555 seconds were soon over, which is apparently 9 min 15 secs. My heartrate was still low so I carried on running through the coil down but slower, but coach B had finished so I upped the pace, grinned, glanced at my watch and whoops!!! And walk. Average heartrate for this short fun run was 119 so I'm happy.

Run well or rest if you need.

That good. I wish my heart rate was that at walking. It’s good to get a bit sun, but bern wearing the legging Al the time, sometimes get an odd look on cold days.

My heartrate wasn't that when walking when I started, the first slow run was three or four shuffle steps that I called running then a very slow walk to bring the HR back down a bit, I found it so frustrating . I used to wear leggings all the time but once I started running I swapped daily wear to jeans or track suit, so now if I put my leggings on I go out and run .

🍏 Crazy how we sometimes value a shorter run and other times it’s not enough. Like you after my speed run I enjoyed running on at my own pace.. to be honest it was quicker than walking home in the freezing cold!

When I did that run it was so short it didn't feel like it merited the full running gear! You're making a great start to the 10k plan, glad your heart rate is behaving itself, you know what you're doing, you've got this :)

Thanks, yes, that's why I did it today, if I'd had a rest day I would have wanted to go further. The inner ear infection had messed with everything, blood pressure, heartrate, even temperature and most annoying not being able to hear what people say. Being dizzy wasn't much fun either and had been going on a while, it's great to be getting a bit back to normal

Well done Sue. Sounds like you had fun. I hadn’t realised you’d been poorly with an ear infection. Glad you’re on the mend now. Xx

Thanks, my ears are an ongoing problem, inner ear always a bit blocked and it's been getting progressively worse since December....doctor keeps referring me to ENT but I guess they are busy xx

Putting on the gear is how I get myself out of the door too, Sue. Never fails, although for me I think it's the sports bra that does it. That ear infection sounds really nasty (but then I've never met a pleasant one). Glad you're recovering. And it sounds like your eye op has worked really well!

Thanks 😃 yes the ear has been progressively awful, oh the sports bra....I don't always but when I do I know it'll be a longer run. Both eyes now see middle and long distance really well, it's a beautiful world
