Horrendous but hilarious 5 mile first ever (and last) XC run

I decided to try a XC run before the end of the season, bought a pair of spikes and met up with our running club.

I didn’t even know what the distance was until I got there 🙈 but was told 2 laps of a 5 mile route through fields, woodland and a swamp (yes an actual swamp).

I found even the first 5 minutes tough and couldn’t get my breathing under control so slowed right down. I stuck with a couple of friends from my club and chatted the whole way. I do love a chatty pace run. ☺️

Went over a bit on my ankle on lap one but was okay and then we got to the swamp - knee deep, smelly and no way round! 😱

soaked through, feet like ice but laughing so much.

2nd lap and my friend fell right in up to her chest - I couldn’t stop laughing to help her.

I’m not sure if I’ll do another one as it was so hard but I’ve never laughed so much either. Great Sunday funday!

Sounds like the sort of thing you do that's absolutely fantastic....in retrospect when you're warm and dry

And 5 miles, you deserve a medal!!!
