Nrc 10k plan week 2

I did the second run of week 2 this morning, about 16 minutes or 1000 seconds. This is the second very short run and I'm undecided as to whether I like it or not. Pros: it is done very quickly and there is no sense of having knocked yourself out. Cons: because I take a fair time to warm up I feel I'm finishing when I've barely got going. But who am I to argue with coach Bennett? If he says it's a good idea then it's a good idea. Rest day tomorrow and then a speed run. I'm only just getting used to those!

Short runs always leave me a bit dissatisfied, speed runs are fun though

I take a long time to warm up, too. Why don’t you consider extending the time of your warm up walk? I did this today - even jogging for a bit in the middle of the walk. Then when Coach Bennett calls, you’ll be ready for the off! I’m definitely going to try it on my next interval run. I’d love to run that first interval fully warmed up, it’s usually a real struggle.

that’s what I love about this forum! Such a great idea and you might think it’s obvious but it just hadn’t occurred to me. I think I’m always so keen to get going I assume I should spend as little time as possible warming up but there is another way of getting there. Thank you. Great idea.

😊 I’d be interested to know if it helps!

I’m with you-runs that are too short barely feel like warming up. I think fifteen to twenty minutes is my happy minimum, although if I’ve done a longer warm up/cool down walk, a shorter one is sometimes nice. We always want a bit longer with coach b!

I’m up to last run of week 1. I’m not sure I’m going to stick with it. It just doesn’t flow for me. I’ve looked again at Ju ju’s magic plan & think It would suit me better. Im going to give it another week. 2 max see how I fair. Had Cory for the interval run. He’s way too enthusiastic & grating too! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I've done the magic plan in the past and I did enjoy it. What I'm liking about the nrc plan is having the guided runs as opposed to just being given the structure. I did find coach Bennett a bit cheesy when I started using the app but I've come to like him. Doesn't suit my husband at all though!! It's a matter of finding what works for you. God luck with it!!

I did Juju's plan, first to 60 minutes (7.5k) and then backtracked a bit to follow the parallel plan to reach 10k. I found it really easy to follow and found guided runs on NRC to suit the scheduled run. You then just need to add in your own S&F work to suit you. Good luck, whichever plan you end up doing
