Hello everyone! I've been working up to my 10k this week, so I'm taking the plunge from the 5K to this forum and copying my last post. Happy running!

Today was a beautiful day!

Due to lack of time at the end of the week, I tried a longer route today.

I hit the 10 kilometer mark today! That's my personal record! 👍

I wandered a bit and had to stop more often - also because of the crumpled socks in shoes, which messed up my final time - but done!

But there are several questions associated with this:

- should I go to the forum "Brudge to 10K now?"

- should I run 10K three times a week? (I don't think it's possible for me yet...).

I think I'll have to get some new shoes and better socks.

I hope I can solve this mystery. For example, if I buy some socks two sizes smaller, I hope that will be better 🤔

I really don't know if I will be able to run again this week. If so, I'm planning a shorter rest route.. 🙂

Děkuji všem za podporu.

Šťastný běh!

Congratulations and well done 👏😀👍

Nailing the 10k is a launchpad to run further if you so wish. No need to run 10k three times a week though. Always mix things up to suit your work/life schedule. Always remember to rest as well

I wouldn’t buy socks too small, just better socks. Maybe a running ankle sock or crew sock would be preferable to a no-show sock which I find are more inclined to disappear into your shoe as you run. Read the posts about socks here are there’s loads of recommendations

Enjoy your running. Take care and have fun out there 🙂

Congrats on your fabulous 10K! That is a wonderful achievement. For me, it opened my eyes to the fact that anything is possible.

No - please don’t even think about running 10K three times a week! I think the general advice is to mix up your runs. One run - speed work (Fartleks or intervals). Another run - a medium length run at conversational pace. 5K maybe. Your third run could be your long run - here’s where you can run a 10K if you like! You might want to gradually increase time on your feet on this run.

Now you can run for 10K - of course you can post in this forum! You might be like to help other runners on their journey. There is another forum, too - Running Beyond 10K and Race Support. They would welcome you there, too. And of course the ever present Strength and Flex forum, as it becomes more important than ever as you run longer distances to do strengthening exercises to help prevent injury and improve your core strength.

I can’t help you with your sock question, it’s not an issue I’ve ever had to deal with!
