Some great goals to work towards there !! Looking forward to seeing some of these being ticked as 2024 plays out! I have also set some goals to get my 5k under 25min which may be ambitious but i think i can do it! Also want to get my 10k under 1hr !
Hi Tom, it’s April, a third into the year, I’m checking in on the goals for this thread! How are you getting on for your 5k under 25 mins and 10K sub 60 mins?
Still haven't reached these time goals! I'm a way off 25 mins yet with 28:37 my best effort. I am pretty close to sub 1h 10 though. I did a 01:00:46 10k at the Wilmslow half marathon at the end of March.
Still chipping away at it though ! Hope you are smashing your running goals for 2024!
🍏Love your goals Adie.. especially breaking them down into smaller goals like get the bike fixed. Sometimes we forget to make our bigger dreams attainable by breaking them down into smaller steps. Well done 👍
Great goals. My goal is to be able to run 10K in under 1 hour and my PB for 5K is 25:36 which I set in 2019, I'd love to have a try at beating that, but first I'll set myself a target of sub 28 minute 5K.
Plus to continue on my weight loss journey. I put on a stone over Covid times and an extra one went on for good measure. I've lost 20 lbs since October, I have just 10 lbs to go, or at least I did before Christmas. I'll have done some damage over the last couple of weeks. But I'll get back on the healthy bus this week.
Hello. I’m doing ok towards the goals. I’ve lost a total of 25 lbs of weight so far. I’ve 5 lbs left to lose. I ran a parkrun time on Saturday morning of 27:42. So I’ve gone sub 28. I ran 11K on Sunday morning in a time of 1 hour and 12 minutes. My 10K times will come down as my 5K times improve. I’m doing strength and flexibility training, interval training, long runs and parkrun. I’ve started a 12 week training plan this week. I hope to go sub 25 minutes at parkrun this year.
Goal 2: to run a 10K, I need to book an event, get some new trainers, (my trusty ASICS not as bouncy as before)
Goal 3: Parkrun exploring & volunteering. (Have been visiting nearby courses, will be volunteering soon). Really pleased at how I am being consistent each week.
Goal 4: Swimming, not done yet, did try. (You can’t just rock up at the local pool, need to be member)
Goal 5: Cycling- might need to get a different bike.
How are you doing with your sports goals for this year?
I reached my goal of getting to a healthy BMI. I’ve lost a total of 30.5 lbs since beginning of November. I’ve managed to get a new home parkrun PB of 26:09 and I also got a new parkrun PB of 25:22. I’m now running 10K in under an hour comfortably. Still working towards a sub 25 minute parkrun time. I’m very happy with my progress. It’s slow but steady. Small improvements. I’m feeling good and it’s nice to be at a healthy weight.
That is great going DamienAir, you are doing so well with all your ‘metrics’. We must have an online celebration when you surely break sub 25 for parkrun (and I break 30 for my home course).
