Setting goals for the year?

Wondering if you are setting any goals? I want to cover 1500 kms (running, walking or cycling) and have started today with a 10 km cycle plus a 6 km walk. Going to parkrun tomorrow too - so far, so good!! Hoping to do one long run a week and 2 X 5 kms (speed + hill) each week, hope this will work well for me. - any tips?

I wrote my goals for 2016 on a board at parkrun yesterday - it said simply, 5, 10, 21.1, 35 and 42.2 :)

But the underlying goal - is to keep on keeping on!!!

My tips are - Slow down! Slow down ! Slow down!

Why "slow down" as ur top tip? I'm settled around 7 min per km now and just going to work on my 10km stamina building and see if speed increases without trying. Well done for ur goals, if I knew what it meant, I would be very very impressed - lots of numbers LOL 😀

:) - they are the distances that I am intending to run during the course of the year . My tips weren't meant concerning any particular pace - just for all of us , when we are wanting to go longer/further, we need to forget about pace and just "take it easy" !! :)

Thanks for explaining. You are quite right, I did 10k today and didn't even think about speed and it was very enjoyable!

Love the picture. I did not set myself any goal for this year except that I would like to achieve 12k in August for a specific FunRun but not sure I can do it. Reading you post, I may give it another thought.

Elsewhere I posted something that somebody much more famous than me :) said " If you think you can or if you think you can't - then you are right ! " So - do you think you can run that 12K in August???

No Bazza, I don't think I can but I wish I could. I will push myself as much as possible. I think I may achieve 8k by August. So I will just do the 5k and hopefully will get a PB.
