There seems to have been a new feature added to this country based challenge - personal goals.
It's been added to try to keep up interest for people who's countries get knocked out as we go through the tournament!
The default goal for the first week is 5km, and the algorithm is for this to increase by 10% each week if you keep hitting the goal.
However, it is not necessary to run this goal distance. The only requirement is that each qualifying run must be a minimum of 3km in 30 minutes.
It's great if you join the challenge - but it's meant to be for fun, not so anyone should feels they have to run at a certain pace or for a certain distance. Please don't be pressured into anything just because of this tournament!
There are currently 91 members in the HU team, making us one of the biggest teams - it's still not too late to join - and we have a good selection of contributing runs recorded already. Well done everyone πππ
Go team HU!!!

Thanks Linda. Been superb weather here on the NE coast. Had coffee on the patio. Set to change again on the weekend though but will get my run in first π€£
When I was playing with it, runs from Garmin don't load retrospectively (only runs recorded after linking the tracker appeared) but runs from strava and mampmyrun did go back retrospectively. Do you already use either of those? if so, then you could link them as another tracker and it might just appear.
What a good thing, we are not joining because iβm finding running difficult to fit in because there are people off sick at work and my hours are crazy but am cheering you all and watching with interest
I did qualifying 3k last night and it registered from my device. The progress on the red circle is about 40%. Does this mean that once I do another run and get past a cumulative 5k that the circle will show my goal complete.? What do I need to do next?
Yes I think so. I think it might have to be a run of 3k or more again to count although its not 100% clear to me whether it's just got to be the first run that meets that criteria, or every run.
I just received an email from Vitality with the Goody Bag of discounts. The email said my run has been logged and I am now officially representing UK. I can now do more runs to see if I can enter a better time. So the system is working. I am using MapMyWalk app as my recording device and it was very easy to set up. Hope this helps.
You need to be on the website rather than on the app. Log in, select teams from the menu on the left hand side or click this link app.runningworldcup.com/teams Then you click on our team and all members are listed, together with the distance run so far.
Ok, I think I might be misreading the form. Where it says 12am, I understood it as noon. I will send them a screenshot and see if they can manually input my run :/
This is the reply they sent me when I queried the problem - presumably this is what you were looking at: 'We are sorry you have having issues with getting your run into our system but please do allow 24 hours for it to appear before worrying. If it has not appeared after 24 hours, we have a document that hopefully can help, and also a manual process if you are really stuck to ensure that your run will be on your account, please visit runningworldcup.com/runs-no... for full details. Many thanks'
I have followed that guide to the T but it still doesn't show any of my runs. I have also completely deleted my account and re-registered but still no luck
And have you've checked your strava privacy settings are set to 'everyone' for activities?
I think anyone with problems should bombard them with the manual form and eventually maybe they will get the message and fix whatever the problem is!
I did my first run today, with just Garmin registered as my tracker. It has picked up the run in 'my runs' and in the team list, but my 'goal progress' still shows as zero! I've re-authorised strava, and it is showing nothing (last week it was looking retrospectively, but of course they may have changed that so I won't know if strava is really not working until I've done another run!).
Yeah all my runs are set for βeveryoneβ on Strava and as runs rather than races or commute. Still no luck. Definitely gonna bombard them with manual form and see what sticks π Thanks for all your help x
Would you consider connecting mapmyrun for this as well as strava? I'm finding mapmyrun to be much more reliable.
I do it automatically from Garmin, but I don't think it's possible to do it automatically from strava. However, you can definitely do it manually, on a run by run basis by exporting a GPX file from strava and then importing that into mapmyrun (you could try it with the missing run).
Will let you know if my strava runs ever appear! Good luck whatever you decide to do π.
Very latest response from vrwc: Due to the huge number of entrants and runs taking place, we are experiencing some issues in the speed of runs being uploaded, particularly on Strava. Please do wait a full 24 hours before worrying. If they have not appeared after 24 hours we have a manual upload form available at runningworldcup.com/runs-no... which takes less than 1 minute to submit. Thank you for taking part and for your patience! πππ
I am happy to report that my runs have finally tracked! It seems to finally work with the Vitality app importing the data from Apple Health, which in turn got the data from Strava. Sometimes when I refresh the app/website, it logs my runs twice, sometimes nothing shows at all! It doesn't look like the app is very stable but fingers crossed, we shall make it into the Round of 16 in a week's time!
Well, spending so much time and effort fiddling with the app and website, made me feel like I've invested too heavily in this now. I'll be UPSET if we don't make it! π€£π€£π€£
It certainly shows on the team runs could see it on my runs in the section of the running World Cup although it doesnβt show on front page of the app.
