Christmas running

Well I have managed to squeeze 2 runs in. First the Christmas Day parkrun, a fab way to start the day, but now we're with family in Cornwall, so new territory to run along yesterday. I sneaked out abandoning the family (terrible grandma!!) and oh the instant freedom. A short run downhill to find the riverside path, feel the wind in my hair, find my rhythm and it feels wonderful. Over the bridge to the canal path and head to the beach. Oh good the tide is out, onto the sand and time to channel my inner lizard (thanks MissUnderstanding) across the soggy draining beach. Over to the sea pool, yes there are swimmers braving the chilly waters, but not for me brrrr. Can't get any further along the beach, so up onto the Downs and find my way back. 5.5k done and oh it was glorious. Hot shower and then back to one of the beaches for a family walk. Can I sneak out this morning too? Could I? Should I? We'll have to see.

Those runs sound awesome!

I have so far managed only two runs of 4k and 1.5k over the holidays, but long walk on blissful trip in London yesterday.

It's getting the runs as when you can at this time of year. They're all a win. Glad you had a lovely trip. Happy New Year

wow excellent work Sax! I’m very impressed but looking at your beautiful photos I would want to get out there and run too! I’ve never had the luxury of running on a sandy beach, only pebbles which I hate - what’s it like?

Have a great time with your family and if you manage to sneak out we want pictures! 😊

It's rare for me to be able to get a coastal run. The tide was just retreating and the sand fairly soggy, so the running was hard work there as you sank a little at each step. Good for a shortish distance, but could be too tiring for any distance. Didn't manage to make an escape this morning, but will definitely get a short run in tomorrow before we head home.
