Haven't run since 13th Dec. Life and dark nights getting in the way. Anyhoo - 2 weeks off for Xmas and got back to it today with much happiness. So looking foward to some daylight (just) runs. Anyone who lives in Scotland's Central Belt will know that the weather today has tested even the most glass half full types. ( My London based Scottish Mum used to say " There is no such thing as miserable weather. Only miserable people") The peak experience of my running life so far, a wee lady about my age, the only other person mad enough to be in the park, walking her 3 wee dogs said as I passed her "You are inspiring" no joke, no irony, just sounded heart felt. I told her how kind her words were. I felt like I'd won a medal. I laughed on a runners high, reflecting how weird life is and how the young me had a Saint Trinian's attitude to any kind of sport. Lying on the grass smoking behind Cricket huts when supposed to be cross country running with my peers. Anything but P.E. Fast fowward and looking forward to a Boxing Day run and no matter what the weather I'll have that ladies words in my head. She'll not realise that she has encoraged and inspired me. Just the same way this forum does. Have a fantastic festive period all of you inspiring runners๐๐๐พโโ๏ธ๐ฅณ

A lovely xmas present run
๐What a wonderful story!! Kind words are so precious and make such a difference. Glad she was there for you! Well done on your run! A far cry from that naughty school girl now ๐คฃ Merry Christmas and a happy new year! ๐

The weather was horrible here too. I made it out in the dark, wind and rain this evening. Not a soul about. Very similar to yours I think! We are rock stars!!!
Great post from you, I also live in the Central belt of Scotland, I WAS going to go to parkrun today wearing my Santa hat and Christmas jumper but the rain put a stop to that, instead I ran a short run wearing normal rain wear for runners, that was a lovely inspiring mention from that lady with 3 dogs you met in the park during your run, have a lovely Christmas.
Isn't it lovely when someone says something like that? Makes us smile and feel special.
How the wheel turns..! Well done on โgetting it doneโ and inspiring others as well.๐ Enjoy your festive running!๐๐
