First Parkrun

Yesterday was my last C25K run and my first Parkrun. I was so scared. I am not sure what about, I guess just wondering if I could finish it! I had only slowly jogged for about 30 minutes before. My peers who had finished C25K a couple of weeks before me had been building up to 5K. It was going to be a big day for all of us. It was icy cold and I was half hoping it would be cancelled. But it wasn’t. I just jogged slowly at my own pace and as I did I must have had 20 other runners clapping me and wishing the best on the way. What a supportive environment. After 35 minutes I did a mixture of walking and jogging. My peers came back and cheered me on the last few minutes. I finished in 46 minutes. I am 53 years old, clinically obese and 11 weeks ago I couldn’t jog for one minute. I am so proud. I am looking forward to the future.

Congratulations to you Isabellamc on completing your first 5k at your first parkrun in icy conditions, I am glad that you found all the other runners so friendly, I was going to be marshall at parkrun yesterday but that was cancelled because of 4 inches of snow, I was pleased that it was off because if it hadn't been cancelled it would have meant that I would have had to walk 3 kilometers through all that snow to the start, just hope the weather warns up for your next run

Fantastic work and huge congratulations to you on completing your C25K plan. That is incredible, so many people start the plan and so many fail and give up along the way. I myself started C25K and failed many times before finally completing it.

Lovely too that you got to mark the occasion with your first parkrun. The beautiful thing about parkrun is that it’s there every Saturday morning and it’s a lovely way to get to know people in your community. Good luck on your journey.

A great way to graduate! I did the same (over 5 years ago).

Are you still running 3x a week?

Wow, well done, this is amazing progress. I started my C25K journey early this year and have now completed a few park runs. I do sometimes still have to walk a little, however have found everyone to be so supportive.Good luck for your next runs, you are smashing it.
