Hmmm still not sure it’s for me. I think I’d have been happier if it had been cooler as by the time I walked for 30 minutes to get there ( about 20 mins too early) and then fidgeted about stretching and going to the loo it was pretty damned hot already.
There was only one other first timer Annie, but several visitors so we stood and had our First Time Talk. The course consists of two loops, like a sort of 8 shape, and you go twice round the big loop and. 3 times round the small loop and to the finish funnel. Only one slope ( to be covered twice) so not too bad a course in all.
Everyone seemed friendly and Annie told me she hadn’t finished C25k yet so I felt hopeful she wouldn’t take off like a rabbit. But she did and finished about as I was halfway round the last small loop. One of my slowest 5ks I’m afraid but I do not do well in the heat. And I can only get better ( she says hopefully??). AND I forgot to press start on my watch till I’d been running for a couple of minutes
But will I do it again? Probably
When it’s hot? Probably not!!!
Also when I looked on Strava as I haven’t run that course before I had 8 new PRs so that cheered me up 🤣🤣

Well done for getting out there for your first one limberlou. You’ll have now had your park run email, which gives you all sorts of information to analyse. It was 16 degrees and bright sunshine at Southsea so I was glad I had shorts and vest on today. I’m glad you found it friendly and supportive. 🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Yeah just got my email now and although the last Marshall said “ well done! 42 minutes” as I went past her, my actual recorded time was 39:54. So that’s cheered me up . Although not my fastest time still better than I thought. 😁
I did I’m afraid as I was near the end of the runners and everyone else had cleared off by then. But I went home and had a cinnamon bagel and some porridge with my daughter in the back garden
Even better. We stood and cheered at the finish line for all those newer runners. I've decided to do that instead of wandering off, to make it feel more inclusive for the people making the very great effort to start on this journey. I remember being cheered at Marple as one of the later finishers, early in my running career and it made my day.
