Another cold and wet run done! To get me out there, my cold and wet song playlist helped! 🤣🤣 (A couple of songs collected by hubby and son, so there are a few oldies and weirdies! 😅)
From Riders in the Storm, Cold-Cold-Cold toTina Turner’s I can’t stand the rain, the thought of running to this playlist got me out of my cozy bed this morning and out into the wet cold for a run!
Pretty chuffed that today this weather didn’t thwart my efforts! The power of music.
So what gets you out there when the weather tries to push you back inside?
Happy running, everyone!

🍏love the photo.. who would go out? Funnily enough I asked myself this same question on Friday when it was -6 snowing cold wind and runday?
For me it’s knowing now from experience, that however hard it is to get out the door, I will love it once I have started… every run brings new surprises. Even if I get soaking wet from rain, or snowed on, or have a wind raging about me.. there’s something incredibly satisfying about embracing the elements… I know I would only experience this running… no walk or car journey would do it…
..then there’s the run itself which always brings its own rewards no matter what the weather… the joy of moving, the feeling of freedom, the time to think and be alone, the feel good hormones & the beauty around me in a different format!
If it’s runday it’s time to go… your run will bring its own gifts, regardless of the weather!
Well done getting out there this morning, I didn't run as I was a bit under the weather yesterday (had a vaccination on Friday).
I read your playlist, great tracks but it made me feel freeeezinnggg! I'd go for stuff that makes me feel like summer could be around the corner.
Not a song I think I'd run to, but I once heard Lovin' Spoonful's 'Summer in the City' described as 'a song that could send a trickle of sweat down your back in midwinter.'
Ha ha, yes. I did wonder why I go for songs that emphasise my experience, rather than counter it. But for me personally, it just wouldn’t feel right for me to run to hot summer songs 🤣🤣🤣 but I need to try that sometimes! Could be quite funny! 🤣🤣🤣
But the songs feel as if they are commiserating with me and there are some great songs about rain and wet weather. (A playlist for stormy weather is all ready prepared for when the next storms arrive! 😂🤣⛈️🌪️)
When I did the NRC 'Out strong back fast' run last week the trainer spent the first five minutes telling me how hot it is in Dubai. It reminded me that there are far worse things than chilly November mornings
Fantastic to be leaving somewhere warm and cozy to run outside in the cold and wet. I've managed to drag myself out in dreadful weather so far. I found the promise of a large piece beautifully seasoned crispy belly pork if I complete my run to be quite motivating on one occasion. I may need to find a healthier motivation soon. 😉
Its funny isn't it, I quite like the wet and don't mind the cold once I get going. Something about running in the rain, and although I usually run with music, sometimes when I run in the rain in the evening winter months because I live somewhere really rural so its usually also very dark, I like the silence of the night too, just so peaceful. On our community runs when it gets to the frosty weather we usually shout 'GLITTER!!! to each other if one of us comes across a patch of black ice!😀
