It just gets better and better. I'm so excited I had to post. It was only just light when I set off and I was so unsure what route to take, not having done this distance before. So a quick look at my OS map app and I was off on new running territory with Coach B egging me on. Before I knew it I was 3k in and feeling good. It was so nice to be running different lanes, although I know them well from cycling and blackberry picking. 4k was a milestone as everything from now on was homeward bound. 5k...starting to feel it, still got 3k to go, will I make it? Course I will, I'm not listening to those doubting gremlins, quick body check, everything is fine. 6.5k...busier road to cross and then back on familiar running territory. I've absolutely got this. 7.5k...pick up the pace, yeh I can still do it. And then 8k done in a very respectable time for me. Wow did my legs feel tired all of a sudden. Back home for some deep long stretches and a hot shower. My early running self would not have believed this possible..8k! That's 5 miles!! WOWπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ…πŸŽ‰

That's absolutely awesome! πŸ™Œ What's the furthest you had run before this?

Thanks so much, it certainly feels awesome. Well my 60 minute graduation run mid August came in at 7.3k and I've done 7k a couple of times since, doing mostly 4 or 5k otherwise. I've gone back to Juju's magic plan, this time for 10k, but I'm taking it slowly. The reason? Well it's going well, and part of me thinks it's going too well and that there's no need to hurry and risk getting injured. Hope your running journey is going to plan.

I had just started the first runs to build from 5k to 60 minutes when I got injured, so I'm now building back up to 5k! And then I guess I start to slowly go further ...

A big congratulations to you Sax64 on running your first 8K run, you should be very proud of yourself, 8K is one of my favourite distancesβ€οΈβœ”οΈ along with 3K,β€οΈβœ”οΈ5K and 10K,πŸ’“βœ”οΈ certainly not 10 miles as I ran this morning 🀣🀣are you hoping to run 10K in the future?

Thank you so much and yes I'm stupidly proud. When I graduated C25K, my very supportive son said - oh you'll be up to 10k by the autumn. And that's stayed lodged in my mind since. I'm back with Juju's plan and I'll see how it goes. I'm certainly questing to improve my distance and that's definitely happening. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Juju's plan is brilliant. It got me to 60 mins and then on to 10k so I'm sure you will be fine with it

Congratulations πŸŽ‰. It’s a nice milestone to hit, and I’m sure your first 10k is coming very soon 😊. I too followed the magic plan and it worked really well for me.

Absolutely brilliant run! Really enjoyed reading your report-you did such a good job of it. It’s amazing that sometimes just knowing the end is in sight is enough to make your legs say β€œthis far and no more” all of a sudden. I bet those stretches and shower felt extra good knowing you’d done that distance!

8k is one of my absolute favourite distances to run. I wonder if it’ll end up being yours too!

Thanks so much. I must be a glutton for punishment as I've just got in from a bike ride too! Must be mad...Still I did get my covid jab without getting the car off the drive πŸ˜‡

Congratulations! This is awesome. Can’t wait to hear from you when youβ€˜ve gotten to the 9k on the fabulous Magic Plan and then 10k. These distances (7 freaked out at my first 7k) are such a good boost for oneβ€˜s well being.

Thanks for your support. My legs really felt like they'd done such a workout when they'd finished the run, that I'm glad the plan sticks at 8k for the next week.

Brilliant! Palpable enthusiasm and achievement that anyone who reads it will absolutely feel too. So glad you had to post as its made me all smiley even though I've reluctantly decided I would be prudent to not run today myself. So good to realise that good runs await and that you've just done one πŸƒπŸŽ‰πŸƒπŸŽ‰πŸƒ. 10k definitely within reach before long. Good luck!!

Thanks so much, yes I'm glad it's not a run day too. I'm still recovering, plus I've a sore arm from yesterday's covid jab. Today's strength training took a bit of determination to do!
