Woo hoo!!! Well done you lovely bunch of runners…you have made it this far into September and we only have one week left…sorry this post is late…have you started without me??? If you have, what have you done so far? How did you do last week? I want you to tell me all about your quest for this last week…the evenings are drawing in now & I had a wonderful evening run last week…I’m looking forward to another one this week too…
My quest this week is to run 3 times and get some walks with the dog in too…my poor little Monty didn’t quite make his walk on Sunday, we had to carry him home because his little legs wouldn’t carry him…he’s 10 now and sometimes has these little blips…like all of us I suppose?
But what better place to come and share each others goals and generally keep each other motivated?
So let me know what your plans are…
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or a goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during September.
⭐️ Sometimes when we commit to something publicly, it’s the start of an achievement.
You need, please, to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest.
The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and we wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
⭐️ To run three times a week
⭐️ To slowly increase distance
⭐️ To train for a specific race
⭐️To add strength and flex exercises to your weekly routine.
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you!
You may want to begin by reading the pinned post about Consolidation for some ideas to help you find a goal
If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:
“I would like to join the quest”, or, “MummyCav count me in! I would like to...”
So please come and join us…it doesn’t matter when in September you come on board just jump in & let’s keep cheering each other on!
Happy week of running…
this photo is my happy place 😍😍

Aaaah, this is when having a dog small enough to carry is such a boon!
As for me, joining the Quest and saying I wanted to get a run in worked like magic as the next thing I did was go out and get that run in.... in lovely Autumn sun, it was great (and I felt really grateful for you @Mummycav and for the forum). But my Vivos rubbed my feet (old surgery scar) yet again. I think they have to go. Fortunately I have my Freets and with one run under my belt, whyever not just say again I want to get a run in?
The other thing I said is that I want to do an online yoga class... and that's still wanting.
That’s brilliant GoogleMe …this place is full of inspiration & joining in the quest has worked magic for you…
I agree it’s time for those vivos to go…we don’t want anything getting in your way!!! So good to hear you have a stand by pair!!! Time to get out in them when you can!!! 👟
Phew.... pants, as she potters along to the Quest ! Still here, still moving... still slowly... ! Still enjoying.
Weather against me for Run 3 of Week 3, and then double vaccination on Saturday meant no run Sunday.... hopefully Storm Agnes permitting I may try for that run tomorrow morning!
Daily exercises and some walking and general meeting myself coming backwards is all helping this old body keep strong...workout with small one on Monday!
Still eating more... although weight is still slow to pile on.. banana muffins are being made tomorrow...
Mind set is greatly improved , although Mr OF does keep trying to upend me with his antics!
So watch this space and happy questing everyone! x
Yay!!! You’re still here…and still running along side us all…lookout for that storm Floss, we don’t want you being blown away…although I’d like it if you landed in Yorkshire!!! I would make you a delicious banana loaf to help with that weight gain…but running about after small one and keeping up with Mr OF means you’ll probably need a few!!!
So quick report on last week. I had planned two easy runs and a long easy run. I did the first easy run ok. Then on the next run day I nearly didn't run at all. When I did get out I felt really up for my next speed run - subject of an individual post in the forum. It was a tempo run and I lopped 2 minutes off my 5k PB!
Buoyed up by that success I went into the long run on Sunday feeling very confident and ran a 10k that I was very pleased with.
This week I'm back on my HM plan following the NRC app. I've done the 15 minute easy run today and have a speed run (short fast intervals) and another 10k for later in the week. Part two of the plan week will be next week.
Woo hoo!!! You’re doing great!!! A whole 2 minutes off your PB?!! You’ll have flames coming off your shoes at this rate!!?! Looking forward to hearing how it pans out this week x
It was a weird week last week, what with the midweek rain and the remnants of Hurricane Nigel battering the coast at the weekend.
Even so, I got five runs in between Sunday and Saturday. I really need to add some longer runs into the mix.
I keep meaning to get out in the mornings but never seem to get a "round tuit". And eventually the day gets away from me, and I'm squeezing a short run in in the short period between finishing work and it going dark (or having to get out for a rehearsal or meeting).
Well last week only managed one run which as you all know was the London Vitality Virtual 10,000. That was on Tuesday 19th. Did that virtually with Hedgehogs123 so all good there. We’re waiting now for our t-shirt and medal. Then didn’t do anything else after that ..was it raining ☔️? …… I can’t remember…….
Saturday both hubby and I had our flu and Covid boosters , my hope was to get back out on Sunday …..However that didn’t happen as both of us were completely washed out after boosters. Maybe not so much the Covid one ,we think maybe the flu jab had done us over😂😂.
So this week I managed a small run yesterday and Saturday and Sunday I will be out running for England 🏴 Running World 🌍 Cup.
Yay!!! You are fantastic Folkylass ..everything you’ve got on this week has sounded full of energy and fun…with a little bit of a pamper at the hairdressers!!! What a week?! Good for you x
Gorgeous photo! It’s a grey day here so it’s lovely to see blue sky!
I’ve had covid and have been feeling a bit sorry for myself. I’m testing negative now but still quite tired. Questing has been on pause and I’ve just been focusing on recovering. This week I’ve finally managed to go for a swim which has been a goal for absolutely ages! It’s a shame it took me getting ill to get me in the pool but if did remind me how much I enjoy it!
Quest for this week? Hopefully three runs but I’m not beating myself up if that doesn’t happen. Eat really well-5 a day veg challenge is on! A couple of Pilates/yoga classes and another swim.
If all goes well with recovering, I’ve seen a tempting local 5 mile night race event in November that I’m tempted to enter. The distance is comfortable for me and I think it could be fun-all the photos have glow sticks and reflective paint and massive smiles so could be a lot of fun. It’s nice to be feeling a bit itchy to have something on the calendar again.
Ohhhhh…pesky Covid…but at least you’re testing negative now but I completely get that your body will be exhausted…so easy does it…I don’t need to tell you to listen to your body because I know that’s just what you’re doing so whatever you manage is amazing xx
Thank you so much! Covid and a couple of busy days means I’m playing catch up with myself and all the jobs that didn’t get done but I’m feeling much better. Got out for a lovely little chilled run with MrU this morning. Twenty minutes was just enough to blow the cobwebs away.
Great month questing-thanks again for keeping us all on track ❤️❤️❤️
My goals are to keep running 3 times a week and not use bad weather as any excuse! Need to get out in the mornings as my eye sight is very poor and stumbling over tree routes and pavements in the dark us a recipe for disaster!
I’ve just been done Ive now done 30 graduate runs so I probably need to set myself some goals to run a bit further and faster
You are more than welcome to join us…and this is the last week so look out for the next quest and you can join in and keep it going l…those pesky tree roots trying to trip us up are so tricky, be careful out there!!
Why not, in Oct quest, set yourself a new goal, move away from those consolidation runs…move on, keep yourself motivated and we’ll all be cheering loudly!!
Great post and Quest many thanks! I went for a lovely run earlier. It was was not too hot and actually not my usual route, it was so calming to hear the song birds, to see water birds and squirrels dashing ahead x
Well done on getting 3 runs a week in Mummycav . That's one of my goals too and I'm more or less on track. If I run tomorrow it'll be ticked. The other elements were doing one speed or tempo run each week. Well, I've done one so if tomorrow's potential run is one of these I can tick that too.
The final one was to do a 5k .... and I've done two 😁 even though I wasn't sure I'd manage one
So, I'm going to go to bed now after slathering myself in ibuprofen gel (a bit achy after sitting in the car for 5+ hours today) and hopefully tomorrow will see my goals all achieved!
