What a lovely day. I didnt wake early and then I sat around for what felt like ages before getting ready to go out.I'd decided yesterday to run/walk 10k today and see if I could finish in under 2 hours.
I decided T Rex for music and a NRC 10k run, seems in the sunshine I set up a 30 minute speed run so I stopped to change that.
I parked in the car park and jogged gently over the bridge then down the steps.
Its really hot out but the river pathway is bordered by trees so I was expecting lots of shade, wrong! The sun was too high to make shadows so I was glad of my high factor sun screen and hat.
Of course I started too fast, of course my heartrate was too high very quickly, of course I wore myself out, but . .I so enjoyed that, being outside, running and walking, saying good morning to people going the other way, runners, walkers, cyclists, then I realised it was afternoon so changed my greeting, most people returned my greeting.
I turned at the half way mark, took a couple of photos of some swans and realised I felt ok .
I'd set the watch 1 minute run 1 minute walk, by the time I turned I ignored the buzzing on my wrist and did my own thing, this is what I love about running, we can go fast, we can slow down, we can run a bit and walk a bit, we can do whatever we please and it's all being out there and being fitter than if we didnt.
And can I cover 10k in under 2 hours? Yes, it took 1hr 48min 28secs. So I'm happy.
Run happy all or rest well.

Excellent stuff! And by golly you are right: I had almost reached the stage where I was telling myself I was setting out for x minutes or x km, but if I want a bit more or a bit less, or a bit of a walk, or a left turn instead of a right, or a stop and admire a critter I came across ... then I was on no schedule other than my own - and then I got hurt. Now I'm building up again I like the idea of running how you did this one when I'm up to speed again. π
Yes, for me there are no rules, and today I'd have been happy if it was 1hr 59 mins so I'm super happy, I love a meander run round the roads but i needed to know where I was going today, I can run round the outside of our village and its still only 8k so not enough for todays run
Congratulations Sue on completing that run/walk 10K today in under two hours, well done π β ππΎπΆ of course you are much fitter than if you had stayed at home.
Thanks Al, I'll stick with run walk intervals for now, i should be able to beat that time by a minute or two on Sunday, I ran yesterday so legs weren't fresh today
I couldnβt believe it when I saw what time you went out Sue, it was hot enough for me between 9.00 and 10.30. I was glad to see you ran/walked it though, and glad you are feeling better.
Lots of water now, and a relaxing week leading up to Sunday.
πooh I could run there quite happily! So beautiful π Well done on your 10K Sue.. how wonderful to be able to do it in that time limit. As you say the best thing about running is at the end of the day we can run/walk as it suits us..:the enjoyment factor is what really counts! Rest up now and hydrateβ¦ you are on a roll!! Xxx
Pain mostly under control β¦ waiting on scan but still a very dizzy Lizzy! Pharmacist phoned & will chat to GP about it.. Trying to walk in short spats with assistance from Hubby to get a bit of fresh air & get off the couch. Crazy to think I was running last week with not a care in the world! Will get thereβ¦.
Well run! Pleased to hear that you are well enough for such a tough one after your lurgy.
It was sooo... hot today wasn't it? My current Garmin plan said to run "easy" for 1 hr 20 mins- I too chose a route which I thought would be shady....Wrong!!! I plodded along very slowly but was extremely pleased when Mr Garmin told me to stop! How you kept going for nearly another half hour I do not know!!!My heat tolerance does not seem to good this year.
πthank you and yes, I'm completely well now, I think the high heartrate was probably the heat. There was a lot of walk breaks today but I walked briskly and my last few kilometres weren't that much slower, I've got a plan to go a bit faster but it's going to be pretty warm on Sunday
Fantastically well done. Thatβs sounds like a great run although I donβt know how you did it in todayβs heat.
TRex are in in some of my Spotify playlists. I was just talking to my daughters about Marc Bolan a few days ago.. his face was the only pop star poster I ever put on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager..π
Ah he was my Idol, and his music has always been in my collection, The run, well slow but not my slowest 10k, probably the hottest though. I took rehydrating drink with me and kept wishing I'd stuck to water I could have done with pouring it over my head
Sounds of the seventies, magic, but I realised a lot of T Rex is the same beat and rhythm, good for a long slow run. Thank you Brian, it wasn't the best day to run after yesterday but I needed to know I could, it's been a while and there's this thing Sunday.
Thanks Sandie, I'm just puzzling what to do for my last 2 runs before Sunday, short I know but fast intervals? Or steady all running? Maybe one of each.Everything fazes me but I am learning to just carry in π and finding I can do things my way.
Great post SueAppleRun, it is lovely to be out in the sunshine and well done for covering such a huge distance in that time! It is funny isn't it that some people return your greeting yet others do not. Strange!
