A plod around the roads

I wanted to run another 5k today. I was going out with my neighbour but as I was about ready a text told me she wasn't running so rather than driving anywhere I just ran round the roads. We met up later and arranged a run on tuesday .

It was hot out there so I took it slow and ran on steadily for the first half hour, then jeffed it home. There's not much to say about it apart from the sky was blue, the sun beat down, the front gardens ablaze with colour as I ran by, and my heartrate was still way too high.

Later I wanted to go shopping, I put on the shoes that I've earmarked for everyday wear and suddenly, my feet said ooo I like these, suddenly I realised that these arent everyday shoes, they are running shoes, so comfortable as if moulded to my feet....all the others feel comfy enough but like shoes on my feet, these feel at one with my feet, so I'll try them out for my next run.

Happy Sunday all, the sky was lovely this evening as I sat outside gazing up, so I took a few photos.

Lovely photo, Sue. I saw your run on Strava and noticed that your heartrate was a bit high. Nuisance, isn’t it!

Well done for your 5K 👏👍😊

Thanks Jools, I'll go out in the morning and see if jeffing keeps it down a bit. The sky was beautiful I kept thinking I should go to the beach, but I didnt and suddenly it was dark

No running today but plenty of other exercise, then a trip to the beach. And it did get dark very suddenly.

Great pic and good to get out and run. Will working on the intervals help your heart rate? My resting heart rate has dropped since I started running and the highs aren't as high as they were when I started.

Thanks, it's just a sign I'm not quite better yet, it's not usually that high. If I run 1 min walk 1 min and the walk breaks stop heartrate spiking.

Well done on getting out in that heat Sue. I have started wearing my bright orange shoes for every day use. I was questioned about them by a chap in M&S just now and we ended up having a long chat about running and health and fitness. So they are still attracting attention. 😂

I love your bright orange shoes and was oh so tempted to buy a similar colour just for the colour, that's like buying a car just because it's purple (I did) isn't it good that we get to chat to complete strangers about running, health and fitness? I'm dreadful, I chat to anyone when out and about.

We do have to watch ourselves though. 😂 Be on the lookout for that glazed expression and thousand yard stare. I have a touch of PF in my right heel and a pain at the insertion point of my achilles in my left ankle. When I wear these shoes I get almost no pain from either of them. I’m going to have to buy another pair of something for training though now as these aren’t going to last that long I don’t think.

Yes true, not everyone wants to listen to our chatter about running, I have to be careful, I have short term goals and a long term plan 🤣🤣🤣Ah the lure if running shoes, I wonder what colour the next ones will be?

Short term goals and long term plan is the way to go.

I’m very partial to orange. So they’ll almost definitely be orange unless that colour isn’t available.
