I did have plans to run all the way round Lake Rudyard, but we had a lot of rain here yesterday and part of the route is akin to trail running. Lots of wet leaves and slopes and I didnβt want to slip! So Iβll keep an eye on things but I may decide to wait until my next visit.
We ran by the side of the lake on the flat side this morning. My partner has just finished Couch to 5K and is consolidating with 30 minute runs. I wanted to do 4K, which at my current fitness level (still struggling a little after Covid) takes me about 35 minutes.
The temperature was about 14. Not cold enough for running tights yet! Happy in my shorts and t-shirt. For me, almost perfect running weather - maybe I like it just a couple of degrees cooler.
We did our warm up walk together and then I took off. Although Iβm a slow runner, Iβm faster than he is! I focussed on my own run, feeling really speedy as I left him way behindπ€£
I was listening to one of the βYouβre dead to meβ podcasts and I lost it after about 10 minutes. Tried to play some music, but couldnβt do that either! So resigned myself to just running, thinking and listening π. It wasnβt a hardship, I love running here!
I turned round at 2K and headed back to the start. I met a few dog walkers and without dog walkers and exchanged greetings with all of them. Strangely no runners this morning. I managed to pick up the pace a little for the last kilometre and finished happy.
Hoping to do a long run while Iβm up here.
